I'm not very familiar with Mycena in Australia, but I can't find any record of M. cyanorhiza being found here. Cheryl Grgurnovic has studied the genus in South Eastern Australia but I don't have her book and don't know whether it includes any blueing species.

M. amicta is reported in those keys i posted to be the larger species of blue Mycena, perhaps that's what the collection you posted is.

Because its a Mycena and its in Australia, any names from North America or Europe are probably going to be misapplied. I would consult the reference that Timmit provided.

Yeah, I feel there is something different about this find namely the habitat and the bluing on the cap itself.

Perhaps it is an unnamed species. Must investigate this further. :stoned:

Are you feeling better today River?

According to a number of sources Mycena cyanorrhiza does stain blue due to psilocin.

Has there been an update?

I vaguely remember reading about a swiss guy (?) eating copious amounts
of this species ending up having a rather difficult experience. I think this
must have been at least three years ago.

Perhaps it was the same swiss guy, according the person I provided a link for (nightflyer) at Mycotopia they are extremely potent.

Was it a different guy?
