You lucky Bastard!

I read an article in High times about splicing Peyote onto a faster growing cacti to speed up the process. Looks like you read the same one.

He grafted it to speed up the process...the peyote starts growing at the speed of the other catus. Thats why I believe its way under 7 years

Grafting speeds up growth dramatically. This peyote bud was grafted two years ago (it was the size of a pea then).

I just noticed a new bud so i will get even more flowers

Do you like the Myrtillocactus for grafting buttons? Is growth faster or slower than pedro's?

I have some of those Myrtillocactus, and was thinking of grafting some buttons to them, instead of my pedros.... Yay or Nay??

Here's another pic, the flowers just keep on coming. I noticed even more flower buds.

Grafting is great, makes me feel a little like dr Frankenstein

Myrtillocactus is very good for grafting because the flesh (exposed after cutting) doesn't shrink so much as with Trichocereus allowing for better contact between scion and stock. As far as difference in growth rate i'm not sure but i suspect Trichocereus to be a little bit faster.

At the moment i'm grafting some seedlings, these are REALLY tiny! They are cut in half with a razor sharp scalpel and put onto the growth ring of the stock plant. After about 24 hours they have bonded and will start to grow after one to two weeks.

I'll post some more pics after the weekend.

Wow! That is TINY!

I'd love to see some pics of the growth rate and the final specimen after it's grafted!!
