Opinion on casing
    #1612888 - 06/05/03 10:04 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I have read in different methods of casing some being simply setting your cakes in your chamber without breaking them up and letting them fruit that way. The way I had planned on doing it was breaking the cakes up on a layer of potting soil and sprinkling another layer of soil over the top of the broken up cakes and waiting for your mycelium to over take the top of the soil.

I wouldn't use potting soil because i read that contamination risks are too high. I'm not really a pro concerning casings (i'm actuallly trying for the first time) but I read many teks and comments on this board and I think that the coco coir/verm tek is one of the best and still quite simple.

You will basically need a brick of coco coir available is pet shops for 5 bucks and some vermiculite.

Have a look to the tek here :
