Mono Tub Humidity Question
    #16115744 - 04/20/12 10:22 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hello everyone, Ive done a few grows in the past a few years ago but Im going to be starting a Mono Tub grow with cased coir RYE and about 4-5 inches of substrate.

My question is, should i use a humidifier to hook up to the mono tub? or just keep it with the small holes for FAE?

Dont attach a humidifier to your mono.  Its a waste of time to case cubes too IMHO

thanks. Why do you think its a waste of time to case cubes? Tons of people have done it on here with great results.

Its an unneeded step.  Cubes dont need to be cased and your adding another step which is another chance for contams

I have a question about casing... what do you mean by casing? I have a mini monotub that im using WBS and coco coir with... would the coco coir be considered casing?

It depends. Did you case it or mix it?
If you cased it with the coir, then that is a casing.
If you mixed it with the coir, then the coir becomes a bulk substrate.

I have better results when I case a monotub. Allows for an even pinset and raises the humidity of the tub.

Your honest opinion is bogus. This is a monotub. FAE and humidity are self contained. No misting and no fanning. If you do either, it just becomes a tub and I have to ask "why the fuck did you cut holes in it if it ain't automated?"

Yes im going to case the monotub regardless of what the other member thinks about it, because yes i agree that It allows for an even pinset.

Dude not to be a dick but, WTF r u talking about not having to mist it? I guess you wouldnt "have to", but its a pretty good idea if u wanna keep yer humidity above 70%

I still have the jars colonizing but don't know what to do with it after its done. I was told I needed to mix it with coco coir and throw it in a tub and add a top layer. Is that the best method? How do I know if I have cubies? Are all shrooms cubies?

I recommended to you that you use a 1/2" top layer of substrate because in my experience this is working better for me than just mixing my grains evenly.
