FOAF needs a pressure cooker to sterilize about 5-10 1/2 pint jars at one time....can anyone give a brand or link to a cheap PC, and also specify what size is good for a beginner

8 quarts holds about 8 half-pint jars I think. Wal-mart has a 6 quart PC - I think it's around $35.

I have that 8qt kmart one. It holds around 10,11 1/2 pint jars but I havent tried stacking them in various ways yet, i'm sure if you are clever, you can get it to hold like 14. It holds 6 pint jars.

How cheap? You can get a used All American pressure cooker on Ebay for semi cheap. You will like the quality better.
Models 910 is soso 915 is ok 921 is the perfect size for most mycofanatics.
I have the 910 and the 930 models.

I just bought an 8 qt mirro yesterday at walmart for $29.99. It was the best value for the money I could find. If you plan on growing alot a bigger one would be worth it, but this one suits my needs for now.
Make sure you compare prices with shipping if you're thinking of buying something online.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..." President Dwight Eisenhower, 1953
