Tolerance developes very fast with continued usage and eventually you do not get off at all. They should really be spaced out by every two to three weeks. I know that some here tend to over do the shrooms and then complain that nothing is happening. mj

If you're always on shrooms, you can't apply the lessons they teach you to daily life.

Enter, I believe you don't fully understand te concept of tolerance development. No disrespect meant, it's just something I sense, that's all.
You proposed/pondered over taking 1 gr. of mushies with breakfast, 1 gr. with lunch or so. The problem is that on the second day, you probably won't even feel your total of 2 grammes, let alone the third day. This is because after the first day, your brain will have developed a tolerance for psilo (yes, this happens very, very quickly, as with LSD), which is enforced after the second day, and so on and so forth. What will actually happen is that the first day, you will be trippy as you would expect to be (well, it depends on the dosage and your sensitivity, of course), and from the second day on, you simply won't feel a thing. Nothing. Nada.
The concept you proposed has actually been researched, but not with psilocybin, but with LSD. It was observed that people subjected to a daily dose of LSD would experience the expected effects the first day, but every day the effects would be weaker. It has actually been tried to give subjects incremental doses every day, and even that didn't have much effect on the subjects' conciousness. But as soon as a couple of days no dose was given, tolerance went back to zero, and normal effects were observerd again. This particular research was done in the early sixties by the CIA on 'volunteers' in state prisons.
The same tolerance build-up appears to be related to the use of psilocybin, which is both chemicaly and pharmaceuticaly very similar to LSD.
I hope this explains the concept of LSD/psilocybin tolerance a bit...

EVERY FEW DAYS YOU WOULD HAVE TO DOUBLE THE DOSE.
i HAVE SEEN PEOPLE EAT 15 HITS A DAY AND MORE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GET OFF AND THEN I COULD GIVE FIFTEEN PEOPLE A DOSE WHO NEVER DID AND THEY WOULD GET ALLHIGH.
AS i HAVE NOTED HERE ON MANY OCASSIONS, IN HAWAII, SOME PEOPLE NBEED TO EAT TWO TO THREE HUNDRED COPELANDIAS TO GET HIGH.
THAT IS ALMOST THIRTY DOSES.
During my divorce, a shrink wrote a paper to the courts. He said I was Hallucinogenic Mushroom Dependant.
I have posted this letter about that before from Dr. Andrew Weil, one of the leading medical professional people who has a first hand knowledge of drugs, users and their use.
Here was his letter to the courts regarding my use of mushrooms. The letter is intact, but I will not show the court papers.

Enter,
I did a similar thing for about a week. I took between 1/2 a gram and a gram every day when i woke up. I certainly felt the effects for the entire week that i did it, and that week was one of the best of the year. The reason I stopped doing it was because I started to get headaches caused by my eyes taking in too much light.
Another reason I stopped it was because, inevitably, i was not happy for the entire week. For instance, i had a fight with my friend over something stupid, and it didn't feel right to be experiencing negative emotions while under the influence of the psilocybin. I was using it like a stimulant, rather than the amazing conscioussness expanding thing that it is. It just felt like I was abusing the mushroom.

I don't think you need to take mushrooms every day. Mushrooms can do their work with a dose once every 2-4 weeks. That's why they're so superior to prozac et al - stuff you have to take every day and which has side-effects.

Do you have any kind of meditation/yoga practice going. Mabye the daily awareness change your looking for could be achieved with meditation. I meditate every day and it does wonders. I can integrate the psychedelic experiance into my every day life. It helps me stay in the moment more. It also effects my trips better. Being able to pull myself into the now ,I can climb higher during my trips. I find the need to trip less these days, but when I do it's so sweet. Then after i'm recharged from my trip my meditation practice grows even stronger. Just a suggestion, but you might already be doing this since your a Ram Dass fan.

Enter, I don't think this can work very well with so much corporate-distraction bullshit.. I think I'd only be able to pull it off if I were a self-sufficient artist or something like that where spending a large majority of my time tripping would be "beneficial" in the external world, ie. providing a source of money for food and shelter through "devine inspiration"
-------------------- Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me. In addition: SHPONGLE

That sucks; divorces can sure get nasty but I never heard of using the mushroom-dependence ploy. I hope everything work out for you.
