A Newbie Wondering If This Is Normal

A friend of mine has mushies that veils are almost ready to break on BRF cakes. On one of the cakes, the two mushies that are growing on it have veils ready to break but right below the cap the stems are blue. The blue probably goes down 2 inches on the stem. I am guessing that they are not spores since the veils are not yet broken. I was thinking it could be bruising but I am not sure. I have done a little bit of research and have not seen anything about the stems being blue like this. This may just be a false alarm but I would rather look dumb online than have someone end up in the hospital. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for your answers. Sorry we have no access to a digital camera around here so there are no pics.

The stems are bruising blue, that often means a good sign of potency. It could happen due to touching the stem, enviromental or/and genetic factors. It's harvest time !!!!

Blueing should have no coalation with potency. This has been an everlong disagreement and argument over this topic, but I beleive all phyc. active muchrooms blue no matter what. Poke it long it enough and it will blue.

I know what you mean but i said "often means", not a straight answer i know. Blueing is a sign of Psilocyn oxidation, it happens when the stabilizing compound (psilocybin) is not in balance. Not in balance means it has not enough quantity to keep psylocin from oxidating. So, blueing happens if there's not enough psilocybin (bellow what's considered normal) to stabilize psilocyn (which is the main psychoactive compund) , this is not good because oxidated psilocyn is useless OR if there's an excess of psilocyn over psilocybin, blueing will also happen but the amount of non oxidated material will be much higher than the previous situation. No blueing or too little, often means nothing to oxidize (low psilocyn count) or indicates an excess of psilocybin in relation to psilocyn. Anyway, what you want is psilocyn !!!
