Hey there,
I made five pints of salsa this year using a mix and some tomatoes and peppers I was growing at the time. The peppers are still growing but the tomatoes have since been replaced by okra on the dripline. I have some extremely hot Red Savina habanero peppers if you want a few.... .
Best regards,

Man, you can grow anywhere. I grow outdoor patches with little or no shade at all. Although you'll only see shrooms in the morning or late night. This is a good thing since I don't want the neighbors seeing a massive patch of fungi, that just "appeared" overnight. The trick is to water the hell out of it every other day and to case with straw. This is how I have a natural Field of fungi in my yard. We don't mow the lawn till its tall as hell, so when we do there is a shit tons of dead grass that covers the lawn. This protects the underlying mycelium and controls the micro climate for fruiting. But as soon as they break the straw casing they are fried by the sun. I remedy this by adding a thick straw layer, that isn't packed too tight. Ill get some pics here soon. Great log Joshua! Nice fruits, keep em coming!!

Looking forward to those pics, FungusmaximusFM! Sounds pretty cool. I really like the outdoor grows. A friend of mine is planning one soon, so it should be fun to hear about it from him. Peace.

"Although you'll only see shrooms in the morning or late night."
Can you explain this further. Do they shrink mid-day?

We checked our beds made on 7/11. Out of three beds, one had a few fruits on it already! We ate them! They appeared to be from isolated fully colonised areas of the bed.
Here are some harvest pics from a Rogue bed in the coastal mountain range.

Hey Joshua, do you find the moss is enough for humidity. It's been extremely dry up here lately but those are some nice pics Do you water the patch or put plastic over it or can neglecting it really produce that well. Thanks - @cro

The patch those pics came from were from a bed in the mountains. The bed was watered once a week. The moss dries up, but offers protection to the substrate from over drying. I imagine you will have to check any bed you make and adjust the watering accordingly. If you are in Seattle I see little difference in our climates. It has been near 100 f for the last 3 days here. I can't recall the last rain we got here, it has been at least several weeks. GSAfarmer prefers the moss method because it works and camoflages the bed. I think I prefer using straw or plastic depending on the situation. I find the moss to be a pain in the ass to clean off and think that it carries too many contaminants. The moss could be sterilized to prevent the carrying of contams, but it still takes a while to clean the mushrooms up. Here are some pics from my outdoor garden. I have covered the bed with 4-5 inches of horticulture gade perlite. My soil does not drain well, so the perlite will aid in drainage. I plan on mixing it into the soil after my project is done to condition the soil for better drainage. I then covered the perlite with weed barrier fabric. This is to seperate the perlite from my substrate. The fabric allows gas/moisture exchange. It should also act as a barrier to insects and of course weeds. I will now work on getting enough spawn for the bed. Enjoy! Joshua

Hey there,
What exactly is a "rogue" bed? Is that like a wild thing?! Also, what is a GSAfarmer? I saw a website a while back that had that same thing but they were a bunch of ganga heads or wild growers that smoked using a gas mask. I have a key for a lock on a camera lens case that says GSA on it. Is that the same thing?
Best regards,
King Bolete

GSAfarmer is the user name of a friend who visits this site. GSA stands for Ganja Smoking Association. He is a Ganja head. I pass out every time I smoke at his place. I'm a ganja light weight, but a shroom heavy weight!
Rogue : a mischievous person
I recall a recent concert in which a local brewery, Rogue, was selling beer. I inquired where they were located. They told me a certain city that confused me. There is a Rogue river in my local, I thought they would be near it. However, I was told their actual location, and in response to my confusion the girl said, "Rogue is a way of life".
Making wild mushroom beds of this type may be considered mischievious.
I thought the name was catchy. I even obtained a Tyvek type material with the Rogue brewery logo on it.
