Just Birthed a Cake That is Over 4 Months Old *facepalm* 1

So I was cleaning out a cupboard and found a half pint wide mouth jar that had "Dec. 6th" written on the top of it. It was quite a surprise to me, as I haven't done cakes in a very long time. The jar was totally white and still looked very healthy, aside from having shrunk to about the size of a regular mouth 1/2 pint jar.
Anyway, so I went ahead and took it out of the jar, and it still smelled faintly of mushrooms. It weighed basically nothing. It was like I was holding a cake made of styrofoam.
Instead of just throwing it away, I figure just for kicks, I'll dunk it and put it in its own FC and see what happens, if anything.
Let you know how it goes.

Nice. Betcha it performs pretty well. Just do a normal 24-hour dunk, and give it a chance to do its thing.

Been in the dunk water for about 18 hours now. I picked it up, still light as a feather, although it sinks itself about half way into the water now, so it has definitely absorbed a lot of water. When it was first put in the water yesterday, it practically floated entirely on top of it.
Going to let it soak for probably another 12 hours or so.

I bet so too... I've had jars sit for close to 3 months... Gave them a good deep 24 hours dunk in a bucket... They preformed better then any cakes I've ever had, except for my favorite Brazil's.
Wish you the best of luck

Very interesting. I'm really curious to see how this is going to play out. I'm definitely going to let it soak for over 24 hours, not a crazy amount of time, but enough to make absolutely sure it's hydrated.

I forgot to update the thread, haha.
Anyway, the cake is sitting in it's FC now. It was dunked for about 36 hours before being put in there.
Will update when something (or nothing) happens. If something happens, I'll be sure to snap a few pics.
