Pressure Cooker - I'm Pissed

Hey everyone-just got that pressure cooker I got on eBay for $10 + $6 s&h - I guess I didn't quite think of this until now-but maybe it's not a problem. I can fit maybe 3 or 5 half pint jars in this pressure cooker-and I've got 24 jars to PC. How should I go about this? I'm pretty pissed right now seeing as how I just ordered spores and shit and I want to start ASAP and would hate to have to spend more money/wait for another pressure cooker. So lemme know- how should I go about this? -Mr.Sleep

Do them in stages is about all you can do. Do 3-5 at a time. Soon you'll realize the value of a large pressure cooker :-)

Yeah but should I wait to inoculate all in one big batch, like do 3-5 jars a bunch of times, an hour at 15 p.s.i. and than let them all cool and inoculate in the morning...er...what? I need a bit more detail. But thanks for the comments so far. -Mr.Sleep

A sterilized jar can easily last up to a week after sterilization. Wrap the lids in foil though.

Should I keep all the jars in a certain spot to cool though (i.e. cooler? rubbermaid bin? etc?)-in the past I just let them out in the open. Bit worried this time though since it's grain and I hear it's more prone to contams. :-/ -Mr.Sleep

This is what I'd do.
Prepare 5 1/2 pints and throw them into the pressure cooker. While thats cooking, prepare the other jars. Then when they are done cooking, take the jars out and put them in a plastic bag thats been filled with air and lysoled. Then add 5 more jars to the PC and cook them, take them out and put into lysoled bags with air. Keep doing this untill your all done. The next morning knock them all up.

This may be a silly question, but have you tried laying the jars on their sides? Small PC's may not be tall enough to stack jars, but you may be able to get a few more in if they are on their sides.
Otherwise, just turn your kitchen into a factory. It'll only take 6 hours + cool down time.

Yeah I didn't even think to put them on their sides-thanks. And I think I'll just try that method of PC'ing some at a time and letting cool. Just worried about melting that bag ShroomHermit-but I'll find an appropiate alternative I guess. Thanks again. -Mr.Sleep

You are using grain. If you aren't using filter discs, then your odds of contamination are super high. If you are, then there should be no problem - you can put them anywhere you want (except maybe your garbage can).
And as far as inoculating them all at once vs. one batch at a time, it would seem to me that it would be easier to do them all at once the day after you PC them (so that they are all cooled to the same temp). Also, by doing it all at once, your odds of contamination would seem to be lower than inoculating, then stopping, then going back and inoculating again, etc...
Remember, keep it simple!
