Why is cannibalism illegal?

lets say some people like human flesh. and lets say you can donate your body to the meat industry like a person is an organ donor and signs off his body in case he dies. i think people should have the option to buy human flesh and it would also perk up the economy.

Because people who prefer humans over burgers are weird. And weird people are unconstitutional.

human meat would not contain significant amounts of nutrients (at least nothing your body doesn't already produce)
and the act of eating people could be a sign that you don't value human life

i bet its more nutritious than hotdogs which have about 0,1% value in nutrition.
plus we're talking about the flesh of peeps already dead. like roadkill or something.

I remember watching a thing on the History channel about an artist that had liposuction and used the fat to make meatballs, which he then served to his guests.

My main problem, if we are looking at human flesh for food is the quality.
We would be consuming the dead, the elderly, the ill.
Eventually we may want a better source of human, so we'd start targeting the yummiest, healthy ones.
Eventually we'd have to start farming them.
It is a slippery slope.

Regardless of it's legality, consumption wouldn't be recommended solely on the fact that humans were not meant to be cannibals. Sharks and other animals can get away with it, but when humans start, it screws up the system.
There is a great deal of diseases that can result from that, all involving prions, IE the spongiform encephalopathies such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, kuru and everyone's favorite bovine spongiform encephalopathy aka Mad Cow.
Course, those involve eating the brain's grey matter.
So, don't go eating your neighbours.

you can not survive on human flesh alone. Maybe for a limited time, like 72 days. Degenerative diseases would start to show up after prolonged ingestion.

If people were able to eat people if they accidently died and were organ donors for canniablism, then too many men would kill these organ donors and try to trick the police into thinking they died as a result of a accident instead of it being a murder. Lots of people would die, and lots of people would enter prison for murder. You cant tempt people like that and tell them if u accidently die they can eat you, because that gives them 1 million% motive to kill you and make it look like an accident.
