The GIMP (Open-Source alternative to Photoshop/PSP).
Mozilla Firebird (excellent browser with anti-popup and browser tabs).
Media Player Classic (excellent unbloated media player, plays quicktime and real-files too).
eMule (Open-Source P2P client, allows direct linking from sites like Sharereactor.com).
Newsbin Pro (Newsgroup Binary downloader).
OpenOffice.org (Open-Source alternative to MS Office).
Spybot (Spyware remover, everyone should have this).
CDex (Cd to wav/mp3/Ogg ripper)

--------------------
The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

I like Q3 also, but it never works korrectly on my computer.
I also forgot to mention Explorer and Kazaa. I only have internet access once every month with my computer (whenever I update my site). I have to use this shitty slow-ass computer that's 7 years old.

Ack, how could I foget purify and quantify... vi, you either hate it or love it. Whenver I use a 'normal' editor or IDE I end up with code that has lots and lots of kkkkjjjjj in it as my mind tries to figure out why the keys are typing instead of moving the cursor.

I supose I should include LaTeX as well, but I don't use it as much as I used to when I was doing research.

I would have to add subversion to my list as well. Is it possible that this post is actually older than subversion? If not older, pretty close...

set up utorrent (make sure u are "connectible")and get hooked up with some private trackers. oink is good for music and apps, demonoid is good for games and dvd's and cheggit is good for porn.
