It's some sort of edible Agaricus species due to lack of foul odor and lack of bruising reactions. Great that it's growing right in your yard :super:

Are you sure there isn't yellow bruising on the caps at least?

Not Agaricus campestris which has an evanescent veil and doesn't stain yellow which is quite evident in your pictures on the caps.  The good smell (Should not smell like chemicals) and lack of yellow staining on the stem (And especially stem base) indicates its an edible species though.

I'm not quite sure which one though, maybe compare with these.

Wait for someone who knows better than me, but they look a lot like the albolutescens I found today in the hills about 80 miles from you. I didn't get the almond smell until it had dried out a bit, and I lightly scraped the stem with the back of a knife. The smell was very faint, but very much like marzipan. It was just overwhelmed buy the basic mushroomy smell.

Agaricus albolutescens seems likely.

The spores are brown, I laid the caps on paper overnight and got a crazy amount of spores. Maybe I'll try to cultivate them if they end up being good.

So my mom cooked these guys up in butter and she said they smelled kinda like creosote...a very unpleasant smell...I also picked some young button stage ones but they didn't smell or taste bad cause I tried one, but the older mushrooms definitely smelled bad. Is this normal or a bad sign?

Bad sign. Means they are likely poisonous or at the very least unpalatable.

That is kind of a bad sign, but I still think its A. albolutescens due to the persistent yellow staining on the caps.

The toxic ones smell like ink or paste, kind of a chemical odor.  Perhaps creasote is the same, not sure.  If you eat it make sure you try really tiny bits at first and slowly work your way up.

The worst thing that can happen if you eat an Agaricus is to throw up, you wouldn't need to go to the hospital if you get sick.

Damn they smelled just like regular button mushroom when raw and the immature button staged ones we cooked smelled and tasted fine...could it just be an effect of the old age/maturity of the caps? I have a feeling it is more likely Agaricus xanthodermus because of the smell when cooked

Agaricus xanthodermus doesn't stain persistently yellow, it stains extremely yellow quickly like a highlighter and then looses the color rather fast (KOH will make the staining persistent).  It also will stain heavily on the stem and especially stem base, smells unpleasant like chemicals, and has a bad metallic taste.

I think these may be A. abruptibulbus which I have seen in the Sacramento area recently, but if not I would think Alan is right with A. albolutescens.  The former would have an bulbous base (Perhaps not always obvious?) and larger spores.
