looking for practical apps, upgraded to a better phone and would like some recommendations.
hoping for a legit bar tending app, have not run across one with good reviews though.
beer app would be cool.
beyond that surprise me. won't be using my phone for games or music. business type apps could come in handy as well.
cheers!

Speed X3D is sick, but you can only get temple run on iphone/ipad unless I'm mistaken and just cannot find it. But OP also said wont be using for games or music so that also cancels out Pandora radio, SNESoid, gameboid, and N64oid (supernintendo, gameboy advance, and N64 emulators).
Dropbox is pretty cool, it creates a virtual folder you can wirelessly transfer files back and forth from your computer to your phone.
Stumbleupon is pretty cool for boring times, you hit the 'stumble' button and it brings you to a random website based on preferences you fill out when you start.
Wheresmydroid is a good one to have just in case you lose your phone or it gets stolen, you can text your own number "wheres my droid?" from someones phone or via the computer and it will send you the GPS coordinates and pull it up on a map.

I can't find any good android apps, well tapatalk is pretty good, and I use XDA developers app to browse and test new apps for developers. I guess one good app I can think of is Angry Birds Space, it keeps you entertained for a long time. But I don't download a lot of apps anymore, because I have a jail broke HTC Desire and I flash custom roms every week, and that wipes all my apps. So I don't even bother downloading them anymore.
Current rom: BCM CM9 ICS 4.0.4 on my HTC Desire CDMA

Android Assistant, Androzip, Ttorrent, Dolphin HD, News Republic are all ones that I use on an almost daily basis.

Dolphin HD is the best browser of all time! It's fast, easy to use, quick to use, and has a google chrome look to it. I highly recommend, I can't believe I didn't think of Dolphin Browser HD.

I have it on my Iconia tab and I use the gestures all the time.
I thought it was so gimmicky when I first got the browser, but I use it when I want to switch between commonly used pages.
It's so handy and intuitive.

This is crazy, I just came on to put up a thread asking the same thing.
- I just tried the game Cytus. It's okay - I suck at games like it - you have to press on the notes at the same time as a line is passing, kinda frantic but fun. Edit - nvm, you aren't looking for games.
- Are you going to root your phone? I suggest BAMF if so.
- As far as a launcher - Go Launcher EX.
- For an application manager, menu maker, etc, Folder Organizer. I use it in conjunction with Go Launcher. You can change icons, make folders, subcategories, labels, etc.
- File System - Root Explorer. I've tried the rest, they all have a drawback for me.
- Want to keep track of when you last took something or whatever - KeepTrack.
- Alarm Clock Xtreme is the best alarm clock app I've ever tried...let's see what else...
- Scanners: Scanner Radio.
- Free texting app with a phone number given to you for free: Heywire.
- Keeping track of your health: Sleepmeter Pro; Manage My Pain.
- Shopping: Grocery King, Unit Price Compare. PriceCheck for when you're shopping and want to see if it's cheaper online, same with Shopper (which is a Google one). Tip N Split to decide the bill when at a restaurant with friends.
- Notes: aNotepad.
- Wallpapers: ReducePhoto for cropping or making images smaller on your phone that you've taken, for wallpapers for example. Want multiple wallpapers for each screen, use Multipicture Live Wallpaper.
- Chats: Trillian.
- Weather: two notables, PYLKL3 Radar and Weather,US Radar, Alerts, Quakes. For NOAA alerts that push to your phone and are configurable by county, OnGuard Weather Alerts.
- Travel: OFC update Google Maps. For gas prices, GasBuddy.
- PDFS: ezPDF Reader.
- Clients, Browsers: I use Opera Mobile as my browser of choice. The only IRC chat that is even anywhere near functional is AndChat.
- Functionality: For making sure your phone actually notifies you when you miss a call, get a voicemail, or text, Missed Call Deluxe. For putting awesome settings at your fingertips in the top bar of the phone: Quick Settings. If you want to "dim" your screen, Screen Filter. AirPushDetector in case an app sneaks in with Airpush (which will put ads in your push bar). There are others but those are the main ones I use.
Of course I am rooted, and also a lot of those I use the paid versions. And I have tons more but those are the ones I like the most.

Why don't you just use a backup program with Dropbox? Or just load them from your SD card with Titanium Backup, after you reflash? There's a few other programs too that will just automate redownloading or reinstalling APK's for you. Sounds like you just don't really care anymore tho LOL. What ROMS are you testing/playing with weekly?
