many species but a lot european/polish www.grzyby.pl
fungi of california but all kinds of good stuff http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/
then of course this for psilocybian http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/safe-pik/safe-pik.shtml and http://www.mushroomjohn.com/species.htm
other than that your best bet would be to simply search for a species on a search engine...works for me usually.

Hey, I just had an idea...
There should be a sticky thread full of mushroom identification links!
Good idea?

I'll bring it up with the other moderators/admins.
We try to limit how many sticky threads there are. They clutter up the place if we're not careful.
Happy mushrooming!

good idea
-------------------- One of the reasons marijuana is illegal today because growers in the 30s lobbied against hemp farmers -- they saw it as competition, because It is not chemically addictive as is nicotine, alcohol, or caffeine.

A couple more links I don't think have been posted yet.
Keys to Amanita by Tulloss. He and a recent Chinese PhD are putting together a nice set of Amanita references there.
Mushroomexpert.com has a pretty good amount of beginner level information, including keys and maps.

I can help but say you sound arrogant when you say that.
Anyway... These may come in handy for some people:
Lots of pictures of lots of species- http://www.in2.dk/fungi/imageframe1.htm
Lawn mushrooms- http://www.uoguelph.ca/~thsiang/turf/mushroom/mushroom.htm
Panaeolus mushrooms- http://www.geocities.com/psilocyanide/musho.html
Easy look up for lots of species- http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/

This thread has a good collection of very useful links in it already. I think the title should be changed and the thread itself should be made a sticky.
This forum only has two right now, and I don't think a third one would "clutter things up." Just my opinion....

I think that there would be too many sticky threads. It would be better to update the top thread about ID-ing by adding these links to it.

That idea is still alive. Here's a test page for a species description: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23866 Any suggestions?

We're going to add all these links to the FAQ instead of make another sticky. The FAQ will soon become the bible of mushroom hunting
