super poor-man's terrarium

I remember once reading about a terrarium made from a 2 liter coke bottle with a 2 inch section cut out. I looked around, but I couldn't find any info on it. Does this method work well? Do you guys suggest anything better? I don't have much money or time to invest in a super-cool terrarium. I'm following the brf cake method. Any suggestions for fast n cheap terrariums will be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

The coke bottle isn't the only solution if you're looking for an el-cheapo terrarium. I use plastic 1 liter yoghurt jars, available in large quantities at my local supermarket. Includes some damn good tasting fruit yoghurt too!
I also tried to make 1 liter cakes in these jars, but it takes too long for my taste before the mycelium has fully colonized the jars, so I use smaller jars for that purpose now.

Its not kool man, its Cool-Whip. I like those chose ideas. If you live in a high humid climate cant you theoretically just mist a rubbermair container and use a rubbermaid container as your terrarium? maybe even stick a casing in next to some cakes.

h202 is hydrogen peroxide, right?
is there a specific h20:h202:perlite ratio?

As i know of there is a "h20:h2o2" ratio as %3 h2o2. About perlite, wet it whith this mixture and drain it. It's ready to use. Just don't forget to air it like two 15mn. a day, and mist it with %3 h2o2 solution whenever you feel it's fairly dry.......

Yes these work great if you need to isolate a cake in case of a possible contam.
They also look great on the coffee table.

one thing to keep in mind when using a 2L pop bottle. you should fan it much more often or CO2 will build up quickly in the small space.
