Verticillium infection pictures
    #16060862 - 04/08/12 02:37 PM (9 years, 9 months ago)

I'm fairly certain this is verticillium contamination, but I'd like to get a second opinion.

The fruits are displaying the classic signs of verticillium, brown freckles on stems. Some fruits were bent in the direction of the infected area. Some were malformed, twisted with split stems. :awedisgust:

I neglected three poor pf cakes in a shotgun (focusing most all my attention on the main project: my mini monotub). I had no space in the growroom to place a shotgun, so I put it in the closet

My temperatures have also been rather high due to neglect

I'm sure the hot, stale air in the closet made the verticillium feel right at home. Even worse, I have reason to believe these cakes were infected when I misted them last, possibly flinging verticillium spores everywhere in my growroom

I lowered my temperatures to the mid to lower 70's range. I threw out all three cakes and the perlite they were sitting atop. I washed the shotgun with soap and water, then sprayed it down with Lysol with bleach as I wiped with paper towels to dry. I hosed the closet down with Lysol disinfecting spray. Is this adequate sterilization methods for removing verticillium, or are there other measures I should take to ensure I annihilate this menace?

Thankfully, my mini monotub appears unaffected and I harvested a lovely third flush just this morning, albeit a little too mature. Forgive the quality, I took it with my phone.

I've never had verticilum but those all look fairly normal to me. If your SGFC I doubt verticillium is likely to ever be a problem.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to post!

I have a shotgun built to spec (four inches of course perlite in a clear tub with 1/4" holes drilled on all six sides two inches from each other). But I put it in my stuffy closet, which is not reccomended. Cakes in a shotgun are resistent but not immmune to contams.

If you were referring to the last picture, then yes, those are happy healthy mushrooms. Brown spots and twisted, split stems are definitly NOT normal.

Damn, less than twenty views?

I knew I should've posted in the mush cult forum!
