Cacti
    #1605609 - 06/03/03 07:13 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I have 3 month old san pedros, peyotes, and peruvians
They are still covered with saran wrap. One of the peyote was destroyed from some white web :frown: It was the green and most fresh one, the other are kinda green/brown. If I take the saran wrap off, the soil soon gets dry and I think my cacti dont like that. At the other side they should get used ( little by little ) to live without saran wrap right  My question is how to do that.
I keep them behind a window at a bright place with 1 hour direct sunlight  Should I move them at a place with direct sunlight ?
YOu see my situation, any help and and comments is welcome  Peace

You will have to ween them off high humituy try this cover your plants up as you usalily do and poke a hole into the wrap with a tooth pick and each day poke one more hole.

For most plants it takes about 2 weeks for the change to go smoothly.

Wow 3 months! Good job man

I dont get this keeping them humid though....not saying your right or wrong to do this.....but in their natural habitat they do not get this treatment.....

The last cacti I grew from seed(t. peruvianus) were taken out of the humidity tent a week or so after most of the seed sprouted....They were not put into direct/close to direct light for at least 3 months(they were on the 'outskirts' of a 400w hps though)....and the soil shouldnt be allowed to dry out for that long......After that, they should be almost an inch or more tall and shouldn;t need any babying

Remember they are desert plants and tough little buggers at that

My 1 cent...

i think we started our cacti at the same time. i started them in small tuperwears with holes on the bottem. after they sprouted, i poked four holes in the lid, one in each corner. every week i just expanded those and added new ones. then they were able to survive without the lid at all. i only had to botttom feed h20 mabey three times so far. i just place in a dish of water and they soak it right up. they are doing great..the hardest part now is waiting a year to transplant them!
