Hey,
I was wondering if anyone here could recommend a translation of the The Bhagavad Gita. I just checked out amazon.com and was a bit overwelmed by all the different versions and translations.
Any one in particular I should purchase?

I've read the Self-Realization Soceity one by Paramahansa Yogananda and the commentary is invaluable. In fact the commentary really makes the two volumes.
-------------------- 1. "After an hour I wasn't feeling anything so I decided to take another..." 2. "We were feeling pretty good so we decided to smoke a few bowls..." 3. "I had to be real quiet because my parents were asleep upstairs..."

This is the one I use:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...nce&s=books
The translation is easy to follow and the commentary is concise and insightful, but your mileage may vary.

I was at O'Hare airport in Chicago a lifetime ago when an orange-robed Hare Krishna thrust a copy of the 'The Bhagavad Gita' into my hands. "The Hare Krishna Society would like for you to have this complementary book," he said. It was an expensive-looking hard-cover book.
"Thank you," I said as I walked away. "He followed me, "Wait! Wait! May we have a donation for the book?" "Oh sure," I replied and put a shiny new quarter into his hand. He frowned angrily and barked, "Hey, this is NOT enough!" "Yeah, but you told me this was complementary. Are you a fucking liar?" Then he got teary-eyed, " Look, I need to make so much per book. Can I please have it back?" I tossed the book so that it skidded 25 feet across the floor. "There is your damned book - and you can even keep the quarter."
That was how I earned my very first 'Dick of the Month Award'.

If I could go back in time, I would pry my quarter from his dishonest fingers.
BTW, your sig video reminds of the time I was at a large semi-secluded northern California beach. There was a mega-hottie sitting topless far away from everybody. I was with two male friends who kept ogling her. I got up and walked the several hundred yards over to her and sat down on the sand next to her towel. "Hi!" I said cheerily. "LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE!" she retorted.
Hey - at least I took a shot...
