Earthquake in Mushie town.
    #1604711 - 06/03/03 01:15 PM (20 years, 9 months ago)

Last night my fruiting chamber was jarred by something (probably my $%#^& cat) which caused my cakes to fall over and topple onto the perlite? One of them bruised on the top (another cake landed on it) a little but other than that doesn't look bad. What is the consequence of having a little perlite stuck to your cakes, and will this harm them in any way?

They should be fine. No worries!

Many people add vermiculite to the tops and bottom of their birthed cake to retain moisture. Having little bits of perlite won't hurt at all.

Yes there is H2O2 in the perlite, roughly a 1:10 mix with water (a little stronger)... I don't understand your post, what does that mean?

H202 can be a harmful chemical, especially to myc because they are very delicate. You probably dont know how long it was in the perlite right? It shouldnt be a problem, just wash it off with water, and put it back in the terrarium.

Diluted H2O2 will not be a problem. Still no worries.
