My cake isn't pinning...
    #1604469 - 06/03/03 02:04 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

My PF style cake has been cold shocked, and the surface is all bumpy and stuff, but it isn't pinning, it's been in the terrarium for like 3 days, will the bumps eventualy become pins or what?

Ima surch the forums while I wait for a response, thanks

Hey lil, is that verm/perlite on top of your cake? If so, what is the purpose of it?

Sko, I was debating on throwing a cake out because it wasn't fruiting with the rest of them. Now, 6 days later, little pins are starting to show up everywhere.

Patience.

No perlite is on his cake, only verm. Damp verm on top provies water and a little humidity.

It doesn't hurt to set the cake on top of some vermiculite either. Keeps it up out of any standing h20 and the top layer keeps pools from forming on the top of the cake.

Yeah the verm is just like a mini casing kind of. Helps keep the cake moist and fruiting g00d!
