the stipe had me leaning towards Pholiota sp., but everything else screams Gymnopilus sp..

any ideas??

That's an interesting cap margin on the older one. How dark was the print?

You could try taking a little nibble to test for bitterness. A peak at the spores will clear things up :thumbup:.

Idk. luteoviridis is described as having a glabrous stipe that ranges from .3 to .5 cm. Yours looks fibrillose and larger. Not to mention swollen.

Will micrographs help? Usually with Gyms they just screw me up even more :sad:

i do not believe so.
i still have to let the slides dry a bit before i can use oil.
they do appear to be "warty" at 400x however.

no blue/green bruising observed.
i am looking at that exact mushroom right now and see no apparent bruising.
