It would seem that the second package was seized by customs, likely the first as well.
Working with Buthoscorpio to determine a good method of shipping that won't draw attention.
Open to suggestions!

Envelope and wedges. I'd offer to receive them but customs has tagged me so many times they look for my name now. I had to go down there and explain something a time or two.

Cultures are on the list of things that aren't allowed into the country without special paperwork.

Would it help if I used an alternate shipping address (assuming my address is flagged or something)?
Alan - surely you know someone who can get us the proper documents? :P
Lipa - I remember you saying you had most of the cultures....if this doesn't work out for the third time, I'll just reach out to those folks who asked for whatever you don't have, and provide them with the options that we do have.
Either way, we'll get it squared away. Even if it means that I have to source domestic cultures of the same.

P.S. is it April yet?!

Ship it with something like a gift basket or wine, or even a book or two. To a different address now....Don't claim it has anything in it other than a "gift"

Probably not. What would help is to send it in a regular letter instead of a box.

Resend, I have recieved cultures from outside the country and sent them. So far I have not had any issues with customs, even brazenly marking them as edible mushroom cultures on the customs. (this was to Germany)
Apparently Australia is pretty hard on that too, but likewise I have had no issues.

Customs is pretty random in packages they check. The rules strictly forbid live cultures without a permit however.

If this last pack doesn't make it that Buth is sending off, I'll be tapping into some other sources for the remaining cultures. Between myself, Lipa and a few others we should be able to round up most of the cultures.
I've been sourcing as many cultures as I can, with great luck!!
Some good news is pending, standby!

Things are progressing well - I was finally able to pay for the culture today. Stay tuned, we're almost there
As far as the rewards, we're still working dilligently to source the cultures. Buthoscorpio has sent out a 3rd, and final pack...we're hoping that customs lets this one slip through. Otherwise, I'll toss in the cutltures I have sourced, and between myself and Lipa we'll make sure everone is happy.
I got the C. militaris, and R. Oligosporus by trading my Reishi and Lions Mane. Also obtained a few strains of Shiitake, a bunch of Oysters and some other things. We'll be able to make people happy for sure.

Gonna give it a couple more weeks before reaching out, but we'll definitely need that if the pack doesn't make it through customs!
Thanks Cloudy

Alright - so without further ado, I have 2 samples of the P. microspora sitting in my culture fridge in a Lunch Box from Aloha Medicinals.
I also have a case of 100mm dishes, bubble mailers, the fixins for hundreds of plates, and a busy week ahead of me.
Buthoscorpio has managed to slip the cultures through customs, and I have managed to source locally a lot of the cultures while we were waiting for the rest of the rewards to slip through customs.
I am going to be extremely busy with the initial propagation, but I will start shipping the cultures out within the next week or two. I have made another glove box for the wife so she can work too, I will update you all once the dishes have all been poured (~150-200 or so), wrapped and labeled.
After we're at 100% with the cultures, I'll start printing address labels and postage.
I am expecting the entire process to take between 3-4 weeks, to allow for all cultures to grow out (including reward cultures) that I might screen for any potential contaminants before shipping.
Thanks for the patience so far - our journey is reaching it's highest point, and is almost over!

So, does this mean Aloha revived the freeze-dried culture, or are you going to try?

I know the people who discovered it in Scott Strobel's lab, my research is on Endophytic fungi, and my lab has met with the woman who was in the experiment.com fundraising project.
I havn't read this entire thread, but check out my blog at www.basementbiotech.org
I'd be happy to help people with research in regard to endophytes or natural products from fungi/bacteria

What is the status of the culture? I am very much interesting in obtaining a culture. I haven't logged into this account in a couple months and so I missed the whole fundraising campaign, unfortunately!
Can I still obtain a slant?? I can pay of course. Please let me know.

Wow, when I stop looking for this culture is when people actually got together and planned out how to get it and share smh.
Well keep us updated, I might just get a culture from ATCC if we arent able to share it here.
