Just spoke with one of the members of the team that found P. microspora - she reaffirmed that she can't send it, but also said:
"There are a LOT which can degrade polyester polyurethane. I have seen the same activity with species of fusarium (fusarium solani), aspergillus (aspergillus fumigatus, oryzae, and parasiticus), alterneria, and more. Good luck."

Well we certainly have enough raised to toss another culture or two into the mix.
Let's get some research going on these other species and decide if there are some others which we might want to study.

Probably would not be a bad idea to start testing contaminants and seeing what they can do. There is no shortage of these molds.

Or it might be better to just bury it. Once we get the culture we can analyze the pros and cons of different ways to dispose of plastic.

Holy hell! I thought watching RR fruit off a teddy bear or money was novel...but this is even cooler IMO!
At work now, here's a quick link that I was able to find:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/09/140902092945.htm
This specific instance references only liquid waste being used.

The word 'both' apparently doesn't translate well.
People aren't understanding that at $20 they are receiving a sample of the Pestalotiopsis microspora and their choice of the cultures:
Pleurotus pulmonarius Pleurotus ostreatus Cordyceps militaris Kuehneromyces mutabilis Rhizopus oligosporus Penicillium roqueforti Ganoderma resinaceum
SO, to clarify again...
IndieGoGo does not allow me to modify the perks after they have been claimed by one person.
After I created the campaign, an anonymous culture bank reached out to donate cultures as rewards.
It was decided by myself and Alan that at $20+ they should receive an agar wedge of whichever culture they selected in addition to their sample of the Pestalotiopsis microspora.
This was specified here, and in multiple updates on IndieGoGo.
The Pestalotiopsis microspora culture is being ordered from the ATCC on December 3rd...once it is shipped off to Lipa, and expanded, samples will begin going out.
People are literally insulting myself and yelling at me via email because they're misunderstanding (not following) what is going on.
It's not my fault you have reading comprehension skills comparable to a rock - people.
/rant.
Sorry everyone - these people are pissing me off.

The wife is throwing together some documentation (spawn information, fruiting conditions, medicinal value etc...) regarding the cultures that we are receiving, so as to give donors receiving a 'thank you' wedge a bit of information as I received a lot of questions and had many undecided users who were unfamiliar with most or all of these species.
So far she's done two:
Pleurotus pulmonarius Pleurotus ostreatus
Cordyceps militaris Kuehneromyces mutabilis Rhizopus oligosporus Penicillium roqueforti Ganoderma resinaceum
I will be uploading them to Google Drive in a bit, what I am hoping for is other users who are more familiar with the other species to chip in and help out.
I am whipping up a visually appealing template and will also have a basic 'agar wedge' tutorial doc as well.
I've read a lot of AGAR teks, but if anyone has the most basic, simple stupid, so simple a caveman could do it, give it to my 5 year old nephew and say go have fun kind of simple guide for agar work, I'd appreciate suggestions.
This is fun!
Thanks,
Reggie

Pleurotus pulmonarius Pleurotus ostreatus Cordyceps militaris Kuehneromyces mutabilis Rhizopus oligosporus Penicillium roqueforti Ganoderma resinaceum
These documents are editable by anyone with the link...please feel free to fill in any blanks that you are able to.
The first two were so generously done up by my wife (I am fortunate to have a wonderful wife who enjoys studying mycology as much as I do) and should serve as examples of the information we'd like to see on each, if available.
Once these are finished - I'll gussy them up and upload to the IndieGoGo page for donors to view.
Thanks for any and all help!

As far as agar goes, I guess pre poured jars are pretty fool proof.

I agree. To make things better you can install an injector port and whatman syringe filter thingie glued in with rtv. Instead of opening it back up afterwords you have the option of sucking myc up via syringe and go from there which is pretty foolproof. No fiddlefucking with parafilm, worrying about edge contamination, suspicious orders, suspicious trash. The only drawback I see is they're a little bulky
I'd recommend simmering the agar slightly as I've had batches where some come out unevenly mixed and watery.

^Foolproof
Hey, I use those perfect little 250ml jars and they are awesome!

I think I will advise users to purchase their own petris. My thoughts are if they need advice on how to make agar, they're probably not at a level which would allow for making their own dishes.
That being said - has anyone taken a look at the docs posted above?
If I am missing any parameters that would be helpful to know about each species, or if you can fill in the blanks, please by all means do so. If you have anything to add, or any novel bit of information regarding the species you're looking at, go ahead and add it in!
Everyone can edit, simply by clicking the link above, or below (I listed them again just in case).

if you're interested in N.American G.Resinaceum I could send you a plate of my wild clone, that is if you plan to use it.

If anything goes wrong with the culture we are receiving from our anonymous donor, we'll certainly utilize your services!
