Ah, cheers for posting them.

Interesting stuff, It sounds like the majority are close up particles of dust caught in the flash from pictures, but there are some cases where it is something else (unknown) that is causing the orbs.

Anyway, the sun will be setting here soon, so I will probably have another picture to post in an hour or so.

Are a lot of the orbs you speak of in the grass? If so those are insect eyes. I used to notice this phenomenon when I used to go out hiking with an LED headlamp. Insect eyes light up like crazy with LED light and xenon flashes. Spiders in particular. Next time you go out in the woods with an LED flash light, walk up to the orbs. They're tiny little spiders or other bugs who's eyes reflect like like a motherfucker. My girlfriend and I were out hiking at night and noticed it. Once I figured out what all the tiny glowing things were she freaked the fuck out and ran away screaming and bitching at me. Ahhh, memories.

Hah, I'd probably run screaming too once I figured that out. I do not like spiders.

But no, in the pictures above, the orbs were in the air. We had come to a clearing next to the river where I stopped to take a picture of the sunset. I just started taking random pictures of the sky, and there were some cool looking dead trees (3rd pic). It was pitch black facing away from the sunset, and I was just playing around with my camera, hoping my flash might light up the dead tree branches and make for a cool picture. And it wasn't until I got home and uploaded them to my computer that I noticed the orbs there.

And yeah, it probably was something more reasonable like dust particles. The whole night just creeped me out though, and the orbs just added to its creepiness. Whatever creature was stalking us, ran at us and stopped about 5 feet away. We had flashlights shining at the spot where it stopped, but never saw anything. Not even a pair of eyes. It stood there for just a few seconds, then turned around and ran back into the woods. We were trying to figure out what it could've been. It sounded bigger than just a mere rodent based on the fact that we heard it stalking us for a good 7 or 8 minutes before it headed us off. So we think it might have been a bobcat or something similar.

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread. Just thought I'd mention the story along with the pics.

I think it would be cool to see a bobcat or a lynx, but I am pretty certain wildcats have been driven out of my area :frown:

If you live south of ATL, move north. Things are much better up there. Flowery Branch and the Johns Creek areas are the new up and coming spots where you can get a decent amount of land that's actually near some stuff worth while.

Edit: Forgot you said in the country. Check out Brasleton or Hoschton, nice and country but not too far away from civilization.

I liked the area. I grew up in Suwanee, next town over. Place is ritzy as fuck now, yoga studios and sushi restaurants everywhere. When we moved in we drove on a gravel road to get to our house and the closest grocery store was 9 miles away.

Some sunrises at The Skyway Bridge, St Petersburg, Florida

I've had the pleasure of experiencing this here on ecstasy. A fine way to start the day, to say the least.

some more random crappy shots from the sea that I've taken over the years... none of them are that spectacular and thanks telephone

one evening we got involved in a drill involving 5 black hawk helicopters... they stormed the ship (dropped a bunch of commandos on board) for a terrorist exercise... had the choppers flank us for about an hour or so.. .was pretty crazy!
