Ended up with 4.1 oz dried from one patch. And, we didn't even harvest the whole thing. I think I'm gonna trade some for some MJ. The rest I'm gonna preserve in honey.

I pulled up a few on April 3rd. My new Camera (powershot) doesn't seem to have a USB plug though, I'm in a hurry right now, but I'll figure it out here soon, hopefully today, and get some more mycoporn up!

After many, many miles with no luck i was considering making the trip north to the Ohio this weekend. Spur of the moment i decided to check a new location that i had driven by that just looked like an idea habitat and there they were, and just in time for my birthday! Lots of pins, looks like they are gonna explode soon. If your in the bluegrass get out there. Myc so thick it was like carpet. My first find!! Much love to all you guys for the education.
Wish pics were better (phone cam) some glorious bruising going on here

Went on a fairly extended walk yesterday afternoon and was not encouraged by the fact that I discovered just as many snakes as I did fungi:

Yet another day passed without any hope of a good rain to kick off the season. Everyone else seems to be in better shape. I look at the radar obsesively. The guy on the radio used the words "drought conditions." But I still go out today, and find this corpse (it fell apart in transport):
I'm about 90% sure that these are ovoid remains. It was just sticking right out of a log. Completely dehydrated... cracker dry. This thing is at least a month old. This is what things looked like last June. Uhhgg.
The sun setting, I give up and go back to the car, light a cigarette and HOLY SHIT!!!
One is infinitely better than none, and just the boost I needed. The Mid-Atlantic Ovoid season is on!
Now for a sexy gill closeup shot:

No. In California they are only known from wood chip landscaping.

‽Do we know how Ovoids arrived in CA? Were they here for years and misidentified? Were they purposely planted or did the spores make their way by plane train and auto? Is there a hero/anti hero, a Jonny Appleseed/Patient Zero who is spreading the gift/plague of ovoids throughout the land? Oliver Ovoid? I found mine (California P. Ovoideocystidiata) in wood chips. Patch is drying up due to lack of rain. Hopefully next week brings enough to revive. Nobody else seems to care for or harvest there. So if it was planted it was a hit and run. Thanks Oliver Ovoid!, you are my hero.
