you beat me to them! When I was out Sunday, I didn't see any I'll be back out there tomorrow. Mind mentioning what side of Ky. you found them? Well, I got beat this year, damn it! Thats alright, as long as I find some
I'm in the same boat someguy >:(. I went to my creek yesterday searchin and didnt find shitt. I've got the right habitat right? I mean I found the patch my avatar came from in the same creek last year. But it was late april. Habitat pics below, need advice
Question 1: Is this the "knotweed" they are known to grow in? This is 15-20 ft away from the creek.

Question 2: I found my avatar pic on the smaller log in this picture last year. Chances of them spawning up in the same spot?

Just another 2 habitat pics:

I went down there yesterday and the only fungi growth I could find was this guy right here

Too early for northern kentucky? Hows the habitat look? Methinks more rain but if a fellow kentuckian found the first its got me thinking they are out there

Yeah I'm pretty sure we received a frost last night too. Temps dropped down into 30's. Another 2 questions. How far from the creek ft wise should I be looking for these guys? and when it DOES rain, best optimum time to go hunting? The day after?

I found galerina in this creek so I don't want to eat any mushies till they get T.I'd. I'm no mycologist. I just love the sacred art of tripping . I think this is a galerina, correct?

.
am I mislead by looking for these piles at the bends of the creek for em? or are these not the type of wood debris they grow on?

SomeGuy said: OP is gonna have to start a new thread, I'm spamming this one up Last year when I found them, I didn't start the official thread, because I figured it would be weeks before anyone else found them. I aught to go back and check those dates. The ones I've found ranged from right beside the creek to maybe 30 yards from it, but the distance probably don't matter, if the creek flooded, it pushed all of the debri up the banks and into the feilds, and then the spores would have been dispersed more. I have been watching the same patch for 4 years and they seem to move East every year(the prevailing winds blow east, so the wind is usually blowing east and the spores are blowing east, know what I mean?) edit; yea, I can't say thats definately a galerina, the pics are blurry, but I can say it is a good one to stay away from
30yards so we're talking 90 fts within the banks? We had mass flooding last year. I remember living by this site during my hunting. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ohrfc/. Where i'm at, last year, we had record flooding. River went up to 50-60ft. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=iln&gage=ccno1
This massive flooding should send flushes all through the creeks, correct? Sorry i'm asking too many questions, i've got the same obsession

Here's some nice knotweed habitat pics new2shroomzz.It wont get that tall or thick till about late april though.Your gonna have to crawl through this delightful jungle to find the big clusters but they tend to grow around the bases of the plant.
Big ass shrub jungles. Gotcha. . I want to bring back a big haul this year so I can give my CLOSEST friends the delight of tripping. Oh no, another question! Say I wanted to dry a haul out for preservation. Same process as cubes? Box fan 24-48 hours and into a desiccant chamber? Or will the fan do the job alone? I'd hope so, this guy doesnt have any damprid left and is unemployed.

SomeGuy said: *should have* this map shows that I and many people along the ohio in Ky got 1-1 1/4 inches in the last 7 days, so if you are in the green, it's probably time. I'd say it takes about 6-7 days after the rain stops for the mush to get to full size, so I'd wait 4 days at least after the rain stops, but starting now, I'd just look whenever possible
Someguy, that information was vital to my hunting. Kudos to you that map is legitt. I guess that means im off to the creek after my classes or multiple creeks. Do you think with the weather droppin down into the 30's would hurt anything? It dropped overnight, its still only 40F where im at.

I HAVE HOPE! . Guess I might pull a 6 hour hunt today. Thanks again someguy, hooked me up with some pretty valuable info. Well, what I deem valuable. Good luck to all ovoid hunters, got my fingers crossed for us all. Hoping it will be a good season.

Expecting rain tomorrow and tuesday. Might go hunting Wednesday. Sounds like a prime date. 2 days of rain with a 5 day gap for them to grow on

I think the seasons still early where I'm at in kentucky. I havnt found the grand haul like i've wanted to but i've found around 3g dry so far. Chances are if I find them in 2 places in the same creek they could be pretty widespread right? I've found them in the same spot flushing for 2 years now but not a big gregarious patch.

Probably. I've been down by Cincinnati checking before. Over the river nonetheless. N-n-new-cough. I thought I might run into some shroomerites checking down there. I've personally had more success hunting in my local creeks then big rivers/tribituaries that feed off of the ohio. I've checked parts of the licking that I would say are PERFECT habitat and found nothing. I'm probably 10-15 miles south of cinci and having minor success thus far in the season. If you're in kentucky, get the fuck out there and look after some rain. I'm finding them in small local creeks.
