yes, there is some major blue-green bruising. I just wish I had really captured the color. They were much more green than last years.
And, yes, I'm sure that I will take some prints. I actually still have a lot from last year.

The two patches were about a fifth of the one we found today. It was a monster . The pic that shows the containers was after we were done picking from the patch. Still left A LOT! Gotta love the gregariousness! Didn't have time to get out for the Morels , and, it's my only day off this week.
There is lots of dead wood under that grass. I believe there was some dumped there after a storm or something, although it is about 30 yards from the Ohio river. It was underwater toward the end of april last year.
Thinks for all the congrats. They are definitely in season. It's not a fluke. If you are near Cincinnati or have been having similar weather you should be gettin' lucky in kantucky very soon.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!

That sucks someguy! Hopefully your patch will come back. Good luck man, they're out other somewhere. When I'm hunting and not finding anything I wonder how many are within a given radius of me that I just can't find. Lol
My spot, which I found last year, is a wood lovers heavan. I find so many mushrooms there. Not just ovoids. Utility workers deposited their mulch from cleanup there. And, the line of mulch is running north to south right on the edge of some woods. I've seen other lines of mulch like this on the Ohio river, but they have all been oriented in such a way that they get too much exposure from the sun and dry out fast. They usually harbor a sporadic mushroom, but usually less than 1% as many as I find in my ovoid spot.

so does that mean you get wine caps too i noticed the really love the same habitat
No, haven't seen any wine caps there or at all anywhere I hunt. I did check the ovoid spot in may and June of last month. Hopefully this year I'll find some wine caps too.

That voice was telling me the last month winter that they'd be out early this year. The first day I checked I hit the jackpot. I'd searched some other areas the day before, which i found this winter and thought they would be good ovoid habitats, because my spot is kinda far away and didn't find any.

Ended up with 4.1 oz dried from one patch. And, we didn't even harvest the whole thing. I think I'm gonna trade some for some MJ. The rest I'm gonna preserve in honey.

Ditto... waiting for rain in ky. Hit 80 and our big patch melted and there hasn't been a any significant rain since then.
Congrats on all the new finds.
AND, yes, ovoids find you!

Temps been pretty low here and very little rain. I'm expecting to find more soon.
Gratz on all the finds.
Also, o the guy that posted the possible psathrylla sp., I've seen those growing while searching for ovoids this year. All ovoids I've found have bruised. Keep looking, and GL!
