Trip w/ him again?
    #1599610 - 06/01/03 11:14 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Alright this happened about a month ago. Me and two of my friends were tripping, me and one friend on acid and the other on shrooms. Throughout the whole trip me and the other friend on acid are fine. My other friend, however, was tripping for the first time off of some of my homegrowns. We were already coming up when we told him to go ahead and eat the shrooms. It was about 3g of cubes and he is a pretty big guy so i figured he would be fine. Well he started to come up and i think about the time he peaked he lost it. He started to talk to himself saying things that made no since at all. Honestly i was scared to death. He started calling us "cloud fuckers" and other stupid shit like "what if yesterday is tomorrow's brownie?" Don't ask. We couldn't even communicate with him. Not to mention me and my friend had to wrestle this 300lb man to the ground several times. After that experience the next day he tells me he wants to do acid with us. Acid seems to be easier for me to handle but i mean i dont think i want to risk another situation like that. Do you think i should trip with him again or not?

Talk to him about his experiance first and find out what the deal is. He might possibly have a mental problem in which case no. Otherwise I'd say let him try a low dose.

Has he smoked pot before? If not start there...sounds like this guy is abit...I dunno what the word is, I can come up with afew but lack a proper one...

I think next time you should give him a lower dosage.
I don't know about giving him acid, I have no experience with acid

It's the nature of the beast. Sometimes you just go nuts on drugs, sometimes you're not always in control. Just let it go, don't make a big deal out of it or ol boy is going to think he's nuts.

laugh about it.

I think the word you're looking fo ris "Tripper," he can't handle it, so he majorly trips out. I have a friend who used to smoke weed, and he got soooooo weird, he wasn't a danger to himself or others, but he totally lost connection with reality and usually did moronic or embarrasing things he'd regret later, and finally, he opted to just stop smoking all together.

Maybe you're friend is like this and just doesn't have the mental fortitude to handle himself, another friend, one who i did shrooms with (The one time of done them to date) also started having a bad trip, and nearly broke down crying as i tried my best to help him regain some control, and eventually he calmed down, and that was when we split an eighth, so he only had like 1.8 grams, and this time we're taking a full 3.5 of much higher quality shrooms, the first ones were weak low grade ones, and im seriousely worried this guy is gonna have a mental breakdown or im gonna end up holding him down so he doesnt hurt himself, so i know exactly what you're talkin about.

Maybe your looking into this too much

" My other friend, however, was tripping for the first time off of some of my homegrowns."

Thats probably the most important thing, it was the guys first trip and judging by your post he doesn't have much experience with drugs. Thats quite a big factor in my books

"3g of cubes"

Like has been said before 3g may have been too much for his first trip.

" He started to talk to himself saying things that made no since at all"

That sounds a little funny to me as whenever my friends and I take large doses of shrooms we speak in tongue to eachother we do "talk" to eachother but usually our responses have nothing to do with the conversation . The usual response when someone is tripping for their first time is to sit there saying "am I insane?" etc over and over again.

"Not to mention me and my friend had to wrestle this 300lb man to the ground several times"

I take it by that, he became violent several times during the trip? This could have been his way of dealing with an unfamiliar frame of mind and sensations or even responding to instinct.

Its possible the guys got some psychological disorder, but its also likely this was a result of bad conditions. Perhaps you should try again with a smaller dose of shrooms and yourself or another friend could act as a sober "baby-sitter" to calm him if he becomes to confused or aggressive. He should get used to the mind-fuck and learn to control himself better. Good luck

IMO
one hit of LSD
would prolly not be as strong as 3 grams.
that's just me talking.
different dtrokes for dofferent folks.
I've done lots of LSD and lots of shrooms
LSD just gives me clarity an shrooms seem to fuck me up mentally.

There's some seriously bad advice in this thread.

It sounds like your friend experienced a mild psychotic episode. It is best he discontinues any use of psychedelics, otherwise it may be likely that he will develop schizophrenia.

A mild psychotic episode? I think thats a bit over the top especially seems it was the poor guys first trip. I think everyone suffers severe confusion and talks gibberish on the first trip, if not then there must be a hell of a lot of schizophrenics out there

I disagree....specially considering shrooms basically give you a "mild pychotic episode"...if hes doing the same shit sober then I'd worry

Well, maybe. But it sounds kind of like he wasn't connected to reality, it's a little hard to tell from his post.

There are a small number of people who will have psychotic episodes on even small doses (and no, a regular trip is not a "mild psychotic episode", there is a huge fucking difference), these are usually the people who you hear about running around naked in the streets.

I've seen it happen before, and it's not pretty. If someone seems to have genuinely lost touch with reality on mushrooms, then this could be a problem.

Psychedelic drugs are not toys, and there are some people that can have VERY negative reactions to even miniscule doses.

I agree, but pronouncing someone a schizo is a little excessive. Experiences like the one mentioned above are usually caused by people who ill-prepared for what they are about to undertake. if someone has a bad-reaction on shrooms this does not inherently mean they have a psychological disorder. Certain people really should avoid psychedelics full stop, but this guy turned up ate 3g of shrooms for his first time and they wonder why he seemed incoherent and out of it. People should be well-prepared for their journey the man in question clearly wasn't...

They had to wrestle him to the ground several times: violent reactions aren't usual for people who just took more than they could handle, they're more common in people who have seriously lost touch with reality. They also said they were unable to communicate with him.

This does not mean he IS schizophrenic. It means he likely had a psychotic episode. If he continues using psychedelics he could develop serious problems.

Again I agree, aggressive responses are not a good sign at all. But still I think it may have not have happened had he taken them in better controlled circumstances and been informed what to expect.

my first time tripping I lost touch with reality completely, in a sense. Everything I knew - all of my preconceived notions - lost all meaning. It was incredible and confusing, my friends got really annoyed with me after a while because i kept on saying insane things - "I have a dad?" "You're my friend?" "What's going on?" "STOP we need to take a reality check!!!". Remembering back to what was going on in my head has actually proven to be really constructive. I was experiencing things as if I had just been born. It's not something I'd really want to have happen again, and I did completely lose touch with reality - anyone who had tried to talk to me would declare me insane immediately - but since then I've tripped dozens and dozens of times on half a dozen different psychedelics and have only had probably 1 other experience i could call a "bad trip", and that time involved physical discomfort , not insanity.

Interesting situation. Some questions for yourself: are you the guy who introduced him to hallucinogens? Is he interested in them because you have told great stories and you and your friends have great times and drugs and he wants to be part of that?

Maybe the best thing to do would be to not provide him with drugs, and not do drugs with him. If he continues experimenting with shrooms independant of you and your friends, that would be most healthy. If he shows his own initiative to trip, then trip with him, but if he's doing it because he wants to hang with you and be part of something that you do because it sounds fun, then psychedelics probably aren't for him.

Leave him be, and see if he has an urge to do drugs independant of everyone else, then more power to him.

Well thinking back it was probably my fault because he wasn't really ready. I mean we had smoked weed together several times previously but i mean like most of you know nothing can truly prepare you for mushrooms. He also suffers from ADHD which thinking back could have been the major contributor to this episode. With this in mind, i have decided it might be best for him to not use psychedelics.

Dosn't sound like a psychotic episode to me, it just sounds like he was tripping on mushrooms. Saying crazy shit that makes no sense is a pretty common thing to do when your tripping balls. As for the violence, I kind of wonder who instigated it. Did he start attacking people....or was he just getting annoying so you attacked him?

If I were you, I wouldn't want him to be trying acid for the first time while you and your other friend are tripping, that could be VERY bad, keeping in mind his reaction to 3g's of shrooms... that had to be a huge downer on your trip.

Let him try some on his own time, when you're not chilling, or at least when you're sober. See what I'm saying? Just so you can oberve how he handles himself, and if neccesary, you can guide his trip if anything bad happens.
