So, Missus Bluing and I decide to take a break from our fishing in the Bay of Islands, and go and do the tourist stuff.
The result - 118 grams of fresh subsecotioids. Not the normal tourist souvenir.........
Does anyone know the official name for these things, or strength, compounds etc?
Surprise find, not expecting it.

As far as I know its an undescribed species related to Psilocybe subaeruginosa. Psilocybe subsecotioides is a provisional name coined by Inski, and that's what we have all been calling them.

They are clearly closely related to P. Subaeruginosa (almost look like a missing link to Weraroa), so would expect them to be similar strength wise, and to contain psilocin and psilocybin.

There is no official name.
Most of those are what you want, but a few look like they are Leratiomyces erythrocephalus.

Thanks Alan Rockefeller,
I wondered the same thing and am super paranoid about safety here - we each doubled checked every one of them, and ALL were bluing. They were definitely not the red of Leratiomyces erythrocephalus but a deep copper colour, and the stipe was white except for the bluing. My flash and camera are not brilliant......
Thanks again. It's good that people are helping out here.

Well, the aminitas in my yard have gone ballistic with the recent weather. Plenty of other fungus activity too, although not the ones that I want. Any plots around will likely be going off I reckon.

Hey guys first time poster here. I found these on a walk today through a local park. Can anyone give me a possible ID based on the appearance alone and explain whether this is natural decomposition or the result of maybe chemical spraying?
im asking this because to my untrained eye they look similar to subs and wondered whether to bother having another look at the site later.
Thanks in advance

Hey man,
Even if those are Subs, which I highly doubt. You don't want to eat them. They look dried, mouldy and shite. Find some fresh specimens and post pics, then we can definately help you.
Oh, as far as I know spraying won't cause a reaction like that, and they usually spray a weak herbicide which doesn't directly screw the shrooms. Being uber dry will make them do that though.
