I think I may have overcooked my WBS.. help
    #15977177 - 03/21/12 04:04 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I simmered for 30 minutes, the and bigger, red seeds (milo?) are all so expanded that the outer skin on most has cracked open. Only a few have fully "popped" and disintegrated, but most definitely have cracked skin. The millet looks just fine.

I don't have a great camera, so I cant take any clear pictures.

Does this sound alright, or should I start over?

I failed my first two using a simmering method.  I wouldn't waste your time and just make sure its done right.  A super easy method is simply putting them in water for about 24 hours (depending on your environment).

Here is the tek by the almighty agar:

Heating simply bursts too many seeds; A clear sign of too much moisture.

So my vote is start over.

This is a good check as well to make sure they aren't too hydrated.

I'll try it out. I have another set off jars coming after this, so I may use the soak method for them. Perhaps I'll save my favorite strain for that..

a 30 minute simmer is overkill.

I find that adding them to a hard boil and turning heat off allowing to sit for 5-10 minutes is sufficient.

I would start over but that's me.

:facepalm3:

Doc_T recommended 20-30 minutes in his tek...

I actually simmered for 25

I still have the cooked WBS though, just in case it is okay...
