Daily Show Presidential Debates
    #1597204 - 06/01/03 12:41 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Anyone else see on the daily show where they showed clips of Bush preand post election. Monkey Head contradicts himself at every turn. He shouldn't get his bananas today.

I'm amazed at the intellect necessary to watch something as impartial and objectively fact-based as the Daily Show and extrapolate useful information therefrom. excellent job. Maybe you could watch the O'reilly factor and hear the other side of it? I'm not sure if Bill O'Reillys political education equals that of John stewart, tho.

I don't know what either of their "political educations" are like, but I know that John Stewart is funny and witty whereas Bill O'Reilly is just an arrogant asshole.

AND, I would venture to say that Jon Stewart is more intelligent than Bill O'Reilly and Chris Matthews put together.

If you have stuffed yourself so far to the right that you are incapable of watching something as impartial and objectively fact-based as the Daily Show and not extracting, if not useful information, the at least perspective, then you really have to get out more.

I gained respect for Jon Stewart during the first daily show after the "fall" of Bahgdad, where he said that if you uncapable of feeling joy for the liberation of the Iraqi people you are lost to the left and if you don't feel bad that force had to be used to accomplish it you are lost to the right, either way you won't enjoy tonights show.

I can't say I saw that episode, but I do know that the daily show likes to heavily edit comments to get the desired effect.

Just wanna make sure I'm clear on what show we are talking about, since "i don't get out much".  Is this the one that had Steve colbert as their "embedded reporter", and showed him in front of a picture of baghdad? Or is it the one that did the same trick for every major news event that has ever occured?  Geez, with "reporting" like that, it's no wonder I don't trust them, and it's no wonder that you fit into the intellectual level of the people they are pandering too :-)

Oh, btw, John Stewart? Jewish.

Whew... glad it's not just me

[edit]
And oh by the way, Jon Stewart, Jewish?
I'm not sure you have a point, and if you do, I'm almost positive I don't want you to expound on it...  Post asides like that and then expect people to put stock in your other opinions?  Hold your breath... Good boy!

Heh, you make fun of ME for taking it seriously, yet you use the content from the same show in your endless tirade against bush. I'm sure AlJazeera has some good ole unbias opinion about Gee dub too, maybe you could read them as well?

Johnny:

It's a comedy show, yes. It utilizes a form of humour you may be unfamiliar with, "satire".

For instance, when they show their "reporters" (who are in fact comedic actors, in case you couldn't figure that out) in front of a false backdrop, the viewing audience is supposed to realize that they are not really in Baghdad. Their goal is to present an editorial opinion using humour. Sometimes they do this well, sometimes not.

All the reasons you listed off for not liking the show are really irrelevant. The Daily Show often brings up valid points, unless you can address those points directly, don't bother criticizing the show.
