P. caerulipes? (Updated: PICS)
    #1597136 - 06/01/03 12:09 AM (14 years, 11 months ago)

Found some Psilocybe caerulipes, i think. Along a stream bed in grass. Found six under spruce and one under white pine. They were found only two weeks after the end of the morel season in the area. They looked like they might be so I tasted one. It tasted weakly like a combination of that cucumber taste of dryads saddle and P. cubensis. Its cap bruised blue almost immediately, along the edge of the bite i took out of it. All were small. Stems one inch to two inches tall about an eighth of an inch wide. Caps one inch to one and half inches wide. Caps were tan smooth and table top flat. Gills were dark brown adnate. Stem was brown, veil remnants on some were dusted purple with spores.

The pics:

Thank you gumby for posting the pictures. This mushroom was collected on Tuesday June second, 10 days after the first seven were collected. The stem is missing to print. The stem about an inch and a quarter long slightly wider at the base with a basal unsubstantial veil dusted purple with spores. The mushroom cap was the size of a quarter The lighter colored cap was done with a flash. The flesh stained blue after drying some over night. The soil this was found in was a sandy loam.

WE need to see a picture to verify that you indeed did find P. caerulipes.

Gotta have a pic, like MJ says.
It would be great if you did actually find P.caerulipes.
Although a widely distributed species, it's apparently a hard one for most people to find and/or identify.

Plan on getting a camera, hopefully it won't take another seven years to find another batch.
