Hunting in PA
    #1597014 - 05/31/03 10:57 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Went camping with the family last weekend in the Alleghany National Forest near Kinzua Dam. The weather was perfect for hunting.
I got some interesting pictures..

The campsite.

Some nice LBMs.

Coprinus?

Orange slime mold?

Some black cup mushrooms. Possibly Psuedoplectania nigrella - Harry Black Cup.

My best ID guess is Fomes fomentarius - Tinder polypore.
Although it wasnt growing on a dead log.

Pretty sure this is Trametes versicolor - Turkey tail

Unknown.. :frown:

First butterflies Ive seen this year.

If someone could help out with any Ids, that would be nice.
Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did.

THATS ALL FOLKS!

Great looking area and photos.

The LBMs are interesting, but we need a spore print to even get a genus.

Your Coprinus are definitely Coprinus micaceus. Nice photo showing the granules on the caps.

The slime mold looks like Lycogala epidendrum.

Your black cup mushrooms are actually a type of Bird's Nest mushroom - Splash Cups (Cyathus striatus). Those are excellent photos of them. You just got there after all the "eggs" were splashed out by raindrops.

Your identification of Fomes fomentarius looks right to me, as do the Turkey Tails.

Those last ones we really need to see the underside of to identify.

Nice selection of specimens and great photos.

Happy mushrooming!

The unknown one, i'd go with Crepidotus mollis or Pleurotus petaloides but i believe due to the habitat that they are indeed Crepidotus mollis.
