Anybody Have Condensation problems?

I have noticed that whenever I incubate my bulk casings (the casing container is fruiting chamber)The moisture that evaporates out of it collects on the lid and drips back onto the casing (which I would believe is bad.) I try to whipe it off but still some drips ontop my casing surface. Is there anything that I can put over the container that will absorb the water instead of dripping it back onto the casing(without contamns)? Is condensation a potential problem? I know alot of you use the casing container as the fruiting chamber so how do you guys solve this problem? Thanks alot!

How about lining the lid with a thick layer of paper towels sprayed with a little h2o/h2o2 solution.

keep away from towels and stuff it will lead to infestation what i do is this two lid system a inner Plexiglass or what ever on a 45 degree angle so when it collects it drips down to the edge and my regular lid over that here is a link of my chamber just incorporate the slanted lid will save you a lot of headaches http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=1566533&fpart=&PHPSESSID=

Great idea but...You see that big ass blue rubbermaid...Thats my casing container. So if I made what you made, the condensation would drip right back into the casing. Right now I have to lysol a paper towel and catch it before it drops. Any other ideas?

Yea I just want to be as sterile as possible. It has a decent amount of condensation on the surface. I think I might mix it up to speed colonization...OIr will it slow it down? Thanks

My roommates cat wiped petroleum jelly on the inside of the lid, prevents moisture from collecting there and dripping, no need for a drip shield. Even though petroleum products have been known to cause mutations, I figure as long as the mush don't come in contact with it they'll be fine. Just a thin layer works wonders so the cat said.

hmm im trying to understand how petroleum jelly will stop moisture from collecting on the lid what it just rises up there and petroleum repells rising moisture to go where?

Petroleum jelly is a nonpolar molecule like fat and oil and cannot dissolve in water or provide a surface for the molecules to collect since they repel each other, water is a polar molecule. The moisture simply stays in the air, where you want it, and on the walls which drip and cause condensation. Water Polarity
Hope that helps explain it a little bit, it's simple chemistry really.

Like I said above it has been known to cause mutations. Some people perfer not to introduce any chemicals into their grow chamber because of this. But given to limited space or just not liking drip shields it becomes a viable alternative that works rather well. It is in the FAQ, it's where I first read it. Can't find the link now but I don't believe any mutations it may or may not cause would be harmful, especially if it is in there. This site is here to stop the dangerous spread of misinformation after all. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I use A&D ointment (like you smear on new tattoos) and it is petroleum jelly based. Just rub a few gobs on the roof of the terrarium and it works wonders. No problems with mutations or anything else funky with the little fellas. Works great.
