Yeah - this happens to me when i push hard.

Repping working sets 2x5, and then i am absolutely exhausted and can't even move the bar with another 10lbs next set.

Like Bronco said... i just take a break and then lower the weight, if thats where i am at.

Just make sure you don't do what this guy does; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8RcDb_wZfQ

Did my 4th set of deadlifts at 295-300 lbs. for 6 reps, my first ever time at this weight. Was feeling like a GOD AMONG MEN… until I tried the next set at this same weight & could barely get the bar off the ground. First attempt I got the barbell like an inch or two off the ground, next two attempts practically nothing, then when I stood up I was light-headed and almost lost my balance. So for the next few sets I went back to 245-250 lbs. doing 10 reps per set.

Something like this ever happened to anyone else? I’m guessing it has to do with the fact that the first rep of a set, having to get the bar up, requires an initial strength that I no longer had after completing the previous set.

Was alternating this exercise w/incline presses at 145-150 lbs. Proud of myself bc the 8 reps per set that I started with I was able to keep it at this through my final set.

Right on man... Just wait it gets better.  Nothing more grandiose for men than picking shit up and putting it down, then repeating.  I remember when I had the exact same feeling.  405 lbs, I picked up the bar from the rack and it bent.  It was a great ego boost and stuff...

Oh and everyone needs to get a foam roller, as seen here.  It is the single most revouloutionary piece of equipment I have ever found.  I absolutly killed my back d/ling the other day.  Yesterday I couldn't sit on the toilet I was so soar, today I am 100% ready to get kill it again.
I just got a shitty walmart one to see if it works.  Best $10 I've spent on post workout junk.  I am taking glutamine and bcaa's and for the past few weeks I have been having to wait 4 days to get back to the gym because I was so soar.  I am thinking I can get it in every other day now.  This is going to mean insane gains. fuck yeha

I keep hearing you guys promote these rollers, but how do you use it, exactly?

Just roll it over your muscles? Links?

(ill google it, but if anyone has anything off the top of their browser, that'd be great.)

First decent barbell workout in my new place.

First time doing seated presses. I feel like it forces me to use better form, and after workout i feel more spent than usual.

After a stressful past month, and being sick for the past 5 days, it felt great to blow off some steam and get the endorphins going.

It's the opposite, you roll your muscles over the roller... If that makes sense.  It hurts like a red hot poker shiskabobing your muscles at first but fuck I woke up the next AM and I was not soar at all.

IDK how much you looked in to it but the basic concept is that the 2nd/3rd day soreness is caused by inflammation immune response to all of the torn muscles.  The roller from what I can tell forces the excess fluid out of the muscle.  Allowing the muscles to heal faster.  I'm pretty sure there is a lot more going on underneath that simple explanation.
It can be found here

My massage therapist told me that it brings blood into muscles, which then takes the lactic acid away and allows the muscles to recover faster.

Lactic acid is only present when working out(more or less).  I am talking about the inflammation days later as an auto-immune response.  Like if you get a deep cut it will swell up.

:asianofapproval:
the idea that lactic acid is floating about in your muscles for days on end is ridiculous, and also, annoyingly, very popular.

My overhead press is stuck at 120, I've done two deloads already with no progress. Anything else I can try to bust through this plateau?

Eating 4500 to 5000 calories a day already, eating more is not really an option for me at this point.

Eating 4500-5000 calories of what?  Oreos?  If you have gone through two cycles of lifting (I say that because you have deload twice) you are not doing something right or you have a serious medical condition.

FOr some proactive feedback though, try a test booster.  If you dont want to get into anything to much like "roids" buy a tub of D-Aspartic Acid.  Take a lil more than 3 grams a day.  After 12 days you will have 140% of your normal test.  Should get you over the hump

You could work on technique, and your core muscles. Also, put different weights on, the 45# plates are a mind fuck, whether it's the first one or the fourth, seeing that next one on seems to add 150# to your psyche. Give yourself an extra day of rest too (between attempts) and your body will work through it.

I challenge you to challenge yourself more! When you feel complacent and ready to hang it up, challenge yourself to get over it! If you fail, don't look at it as you didn't succeed, look at it as you would a rock face you're trying to climb. Stand back, wayyyy back, and look at it and plot another path. If you can't find one, shuffle down the way a little, a little change of scenery or a view from a different angle may give you the insight you need.

Yeah the 45lbers fuck with me too.  I will get pwned by adding a 45 to each side.  Then If I switch it to two 25lbers I seem to be able to dominate...

Was doing 5x5, going to switch to 3x5 and see if that helps. I'm still progressing each week on 5x5 on all my other lifts.  My press has always sucked though. And no I eat a clean 4500 calories min.

I remember the first time I tried a 315 bench, couldn't do it for the life of me, my buddy put 2- 25# plates on instead and it was cake, even though it was 10# heavier. I could probably lift a truck if I didn't see it lol, may try having a buddy load me up a bar and try to move it blind folded, be a neat experiment lol

Haha no shit, it would probably be well deserved, and funny, but painful as hell. I've not been to the gym in a long fucking time, gotta quit being sociable and go.
