My mom once had the cops show up to our house because she had a hit and run without even realizing it. She backed up and hit someone's taillight and broke it, and just drove off (she says she had no idea she hit it & broke it). Someone must have taken down her license plate number and told the cops. They showed up to my house (while my mom was still out) and they were like, "Your mom's been involved in a hit-and-run and we're looking for her," I was like... They waited in front of my house til my mom came home. She was freaking out.
But I mean that was the day of the accident. I've never really heard about an insurance company informing you months later. But maybe your girl did something like my mom did, and didn't even realize it.

I'm wary of police presence as much as the next person but if some guy reached into my car, gave me a black eye and I knew i couldn't kick his ass... I would not just go home and shrug it off as a weird story.
just to clarify, her and I weren't together at this time. I never saw her with the black eye, and after further investigation, she wasn't even driving. Her coworker was driving. Also, she had her head out the window, cause she was looking around, trying to spot a way out of the construction zone. During this time, he tried to get them to stop the car, and the black eye ensued.
She says this is the ONLY incident that she can remember that might qualify as a hit and run.
She says she drove away because she knew she was in trouble, and didnt want to stick around. Plus they were late for work.
Oh and the previous charge was assault.
That is a bullshit story...she was hanging her head out and got hit in the eye...please...ridiculous...
There's more to this that she isn't telling you...and I'm pretty sure that there's more to the assault charge as well...
I don't care how good she is in bed...It's time to kick this one to the curb.
wow, you don't know anything.
the "assault" charge was because she got into an argument with her heroin-addict roommate and slapped him in the face. He called the cops. Assault.
What does she have to gain from lying to me?

i wouldn't lose all respect for her if she hit a car and drove away...come on dood. I doubt she actually injured anyone. If she had, the guy probably would have called the cops the day of the incident. Why wait so long to file a claim?

Before you decide if she is lying or not. you need to get her to contact the insurance company that sent the letter and find out the details of the claim being made. Could be an honest mistake, or someone may have been involved in an accident with another vehicle and simply got the license plate number wrong. No good making assumptions about what the claim is for.
