those that "know" about opium harvest
    #1595373 - 05/31/03 02:04 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

what time is right

say aomeone had a pod that had it "crown" part way up and the flowers fell 3 days ago , but when a test cut was made the latex didnt run down the side

I thought 5 to 10 days after the flowers fall is good but is the plant in question just early?
I also read some coledge thing that said morph is highest at 10 to 30 days

so those that "KNOW"
when do you think is right
I also read the leaves may go a little yellow

so heres the deal
crown is lifting but not flat
leaves are not yellow
flowers fell 3 days ago
test cut latex looks good

what do you "experienced" people thinK?????

thanks
Psilocybeing

I AM NOT GROWING ANYTHING SO THE LAW DOES NOT APPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its like a week or two after leaves fall off I think. I dont "KNOW"
Do a search I know its answered about 2-3 times a week so it'll be a quick seach. Enless you want to check poppies.org or erowid.org or anything...

opium comes from the unripe poppy pod., If the crown is lifting, it's ripening. So i'd cut now.

How tall is the average poppy? I cant seem to get specific info on this...

I'm moving soon, still staying in the same area, and if they dont get too high I think I found the perfect spot to grow them in my new yard

some people say milk right away ater the petals fall some say 5 to 10 days some say 10 to 30

i the flowers fell on wensday or thursday how could "my gnomes cats girlfriend" go wrong milking on the wensday one week later
the crown is going straight(pheww thought it was gaY!)
the  leaves are yellowing "a bit"

Soon

the time will be ripe

Yeah, theres too much focus on opium, there is some gerneral info but thats all I've found. I'm gonna go look for the smaller growing sites like for gardeners and stuff.

You think poppies would grow in the winter? I know they're not suppost to but winters here rarely go below 40 and usually hang around the 60s so if its about temperture then thats perfect but if it just wont sprout cuz its not that time of the year then damn :frown:

Umm well yeah, looking at Lycaeum and Erowid is the wrong place. Gardening/Cultivation sites/information is what you want. There's gonna be some botanical society that lists em. Or find the out the size of orientalis, they're roughly the same size.

I just found what I believe to be good enough info. They grow to about 1.2 meters which is about 4ft. I'll keep seeing what I find.

I read on two other sites they range between 2-5ft and the other said 3-5ft so I'm pretty sure It'll stay in the four range and never go over 5ft anyways. I dunno how that is for my soon to be new house. Actully I think I'm going to go now to take measurements.
