Upstate NY Mushroom ID (Pictures! :))

Hello.  I recently found some mushrooms in my backyard.  I realize that mushrooms growing on lawns aren't frequently of any active variety, but as soon as I saw them I thought I recognized them from a picture I saw on erowid.  I came in and checked erowid again (and the shroomery as well).  To me, these really look like psilocybe azurescens.  I have included three pictures, including one of them growing.

Some other useful info:

The caps were a dry orange color.  The undersides of some but not all of them had a wispy connection to the stem (is this called attatched gills?).  During and after drying, they have the "locker-room" smell of magic mushrooms.  They bruise a dark blue / gray.

I tried to make a spore print.  It came out very faint, but definitely blue / gray.  I tried to take a picture of it, although it was so faint it didn't come out well.  I have included it anyway.

nope, not azures, when identifying mushrooms, frst rule out the mushrooms that dont grow anywheres near your geographical location, second, eliminate mushrooms that dont grow anywheres close to that time of year.
ill have to see the bluing myelf before i beleive you see a real bluing reaction, but thats just the way i am :smile:

Try putting a drop or two on the caps of the mushrooms before you print them, that might help things out.

I tried lightening your pictures in photoshop... I couldn't get much more out of them than what's there. If you're taking the pictures with a digital camera(not webcam), try looking through the guide to see how you turn on the camera's macro abilities. If it's got some kind of macro setting turn it on and retake the pictures-- they should turn out A LOT better :smile:

We need better picture and better spore prints, por favor. :smile:
