I get that!!! My biggest trigger is interpersonal experiences, but I have to be paying very close attention and super interested in what they are saying.
It truly feels like ecstasy and is the best feeling in the world for me. I guess I'm lucky, if I want to I can keep it going for minutes on end
For example, it happens to me when I am in class and the teacher is explaining something.
Also haircuts sometimes and DEFINITELY the sales pitches one... but it has to be in person like talking to a street vender and they are tryign to convince me to buy their stuff.
This would be the biggest trigger ever would be like walking into a store and asking the guy behind the counter to explain to me the pros and cons of various merchandise choices.

wow I had no idea... I thought everybody got it too!
I had no idea it had a name until just now, guess I just always thought it was one of those thangs.
I definitely enjoy it though, thoroughly! No complaints about it here, I love when it happens

I get this from having particularly epic or grandiose thoughts, especially daydreams. It always seemed like a legitimate form of mental masturbation to me...

Wow, this sounds like an even more productive way of burning up conversation time than debating the existence of God!

Can you guys give yourselves "shivers" down your spine voluntarily over and over? Now you have me thinking of all the weird things I "feel" but are not observable lol

I also get these shivers when I score a clear victory in a pseudo-intellectual debate!

Is the ASMR experience similar to the "face-melting" effect you feel when hearing a piece of music that really moves you? To me that sounds like what is being described in the OP.

Shivers are one thing, a lot of people get shivers for various reasons.
This isn't quite shivers though. It's more of just pure euphoria radiating from the temples and crown moving down your body. It is definitely a high, a nice little release of dopamine. This sensation actually produces no physical shaking (as many people who experience it get it when, say, getting a haircut).
haha i know exactly what you're talking about dude, im telling you the second I read it I went "Ohhhh THATS what that is!!!"
I'm talking about voluntarily causing regular shivers. I can't voluntarily cause the ASMR

To me it is a combination of the feeling of being on a high dose of MDMA (only the physical sensation), combined with the satisfying feeling of scratching something that itches, but it is over your whole body. Also it feels like my brain is getting massaged or pulsed by some kind of soothing vibration.
it radiates out from my ears to my head and then all over

I get it once in a while. Music seems to produce the feeling a lot, There have also been times that I have been able to keep the feeling going for a good 3-5min, But I can never replicate it without some form of external stimuli.
Hair cuts, however, give me a much more uncomfortable feeling that starts at the base of my neck and radiates down to my lower back, its almost like being shocked, but without the pain. And once in a great while I will get the reaction from someone doing something near my neck/head, not touching, its more the fact that something is close to my head/neck that sets it off, I don't even have to be looking at it for me to get the feeling.

I think we are describing exactly the same physical sensation. I get this feeling at the peak of an immensely epic daydream, at periods of revelation/climax/resolution of great novels, moments of realization (understanding how to solve a problem after giving up on/forgetting it), my favorite music, other stuff. I guess these are all typical instances where someone would be expected to experience that feeling though. I'm not sure if I get the feeling during circumstances that would be considered out of the ordinary.

If anyone puts something near my face and moves it slowly closer, it feels like someone is pressing VERY hard on the bridge of my nose.
still can't figure that one out, either.

I can and have gotten it from haircuts (when they use the razor on the back of my head), and from music. I'm sure from other things to.
I'm not sure if I believe that everybody doesn't get this, I thought it was common. I guess that's a weird thing not to believe though.

Interesting stuff. I'm not going to claim that I get this feeling, because I certainly don't (not in the way you described). Sounds like an interesting phenomena though.
