yeah man i used honey in half of my jars and they definetly colinized faster

well I asked this question in another thread but no one answered so I'm gonna try here since its along the same lines...I'm wondering how long I should steam honey water for liquid mycelium....the guide I read said 30 min but didn't specify if that was for a pc or steaming

I used some extra spores and made some mycelium grow in honey water. I then used that to inoculate a pint PF jar and it is colonizing super fast. I did it at the same time I inoculated some half pints with a spore syringe and the pint jar is close to 60% colonized where the half pints are just about 25%. Plus I still have plenty of mycelium water left over. I could probably inoculate 100 jars with what I made from about 1cc of spore solution.

yeah i noticed that its working very well but has anyone tryed to mix a honey jar with some dung? or straw? or is that just for jars? also what if the print was already contamaned u made a honey jar with that what will that do, look like? i lie the tek though

Using liquid mycelium to start dung or straw would fail because of the very low spawn/substrate ratio. It wouldn't have enough time to take hold before contams did. Its much better to use the liquid to start sterile grain, then spawn to your substrate.
Using a contaminated spore print would result in contaminated honey water. Could like like all sorts of things. Depends on what the contam is.

Is there a honey-water tek or something? The mycelium growth in the honey water seems like a really good idea - how much honey and what kind?

ok cool - it's just that some honey has like pieces of honey-comb floating around and stuff, I was assuming staying away from that at least.

you can also use the blue EQUAL packs of sugar substatue "dextrose"!!!

i use 1/2 a teaspoon of karo (light corn syrup) to 100ml of water...
PC for 30 min.......
DONT rely on steaming... buy a PC.....
i scrape a little bit off a print into the karo water (in a glovebox)
then let it sit for a week or so...
then when i see lots and lots of myc floating around i transfer to the fridge....
i suck up some water and myc when i need it, and colonize grain with it....
1 print goes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way now....
