too dry of a week in atlanta?
    #1594115 - 05/30/03 06:45 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

as has come up in several threads recently, the rain in atlanta this past month has been so much that the shrooms have been quite abundant; however, this past week there has been little to no rain. these past three or four days have been mostly sunny with virtually no rain. do any of you atlantaliens have a prediction on whether this weekend would be opportune for hunting weiliis and/or pan subbs? or better yet, have any of you been checking your patches today and have favourable reports?

I found some cubes yesterday but they where all dryed out by the sun. Hopefully we'll get some decent rain this weekend.

He's found himself one of those rare patches... lucky bastid

As far as the rain goes, everything I've found has been dried up and dead. Typicaly a week of stright sun is enough to dry anything out once it's up in the mid 70s-80s. Looks like it's going to rain all next week, so no worries

Yup. I caught one lone cube in a field earlier this week in a field between macon and atlanta while looking for subbs, I hope that means more to come when the rains come back.

yeah. i can't wait till the week of rain again (kind of funny). which species do you seem to notice affected more adversely by the sun? i would tend to think you could still luck out on weiliis where there are sprinklers to help. also, wouldn't there be enough moisture in horse patties/composting hay to still bear fruit?

It seems like the pans disappear very quickly, followed a day or so later by the cubes (in my very limited experience). It probably has something to do with the higher density and body mass of the cubensis, but this is just a guess. I also noticed that the spots that don't dry out relatively quickly are so waterlogged when it rains that the mycelium doesn't seem to get a foothold (in hay). Others might know better than me though.

You've got to consider that most of Northern Georgia is mountainous... And that mean's we've got different climates over here than you would near the coast or where the elevation was less.

its been staying fairly moist, at least everywhere i'm driving. seems like the roads are always wet. i think i remember hearing on am750 for two nights in a row now that we've gotten 1/4" - 1" (depending on your area in metro atl)
