Corn is not that bad!

So I started four popcorn jars with EQ strain.
Against all odds of contamination I have succeeded in producing fruit. I used corn. I inoculated in a less than sterile environment (a tipped over fish tank sprayed to all hell with generic lysol.) I used a print NOT a syringe. And probably not a very clean one at that although it appeared clean. And they were incubated around 70 degrees for about four weeks.
Somehow they managed to colonize completely and without contamination. I spawned to bucket pasturized 5050 verm/coir with about a 1:1 ratio and topped it with an inch or two of just verm/coir in a 27 quart tub. This didn't seem to colonize so after about 3 weeks I stirred it with a sterilized spoon and noticed much growth over the next couple of days.
Eventually they started to pin (with a little more time passing than I thought would) and finally produced wonderful, absolutely beautiful EQ shrooms.
They side pinned pretty bad on one side but EQs tend to not stick to the substrate that much so they pulled out just fine with very minimal surrounding damage.
I'm also very happy to note that there is very much primordia and alot of tiny pins that will be my 2nd flush. The thing I am excited about is that it seems like there are many more pins for this flush than the first and I would be rather happy if I got a better second flush.
Granted the first flush didn't produce a great deal of fruit (perhaps half an ounce to an ounce... I'm not sure as of know. They are not dried yet) But with the looks of the new pinset, I may be looking at at least as good of a second flush and maybe even better.
I will post pics when the chance comes (dial-up sucks terribly) but I thought I would share that for a first time trying a bulk method, corn did well for me and I would use it again, but probably with an isolated strain for better pinsets.

I have had good results with corn as well. Until i didn't rinse it well enough. If I don't get all the slime off they contaminate every time in my experience.
