Tyvek or Polyfill on FC

My friend is about to start his first monotub project and he wonders if tyvek over the breathing holes would work. Most seem to use polyfill. Would the tyvek be too restrictive for FAE?

From my experience Tyvec has the more restricted airflow out of most materials used, and FAE is extremely important. i'm not sure of any downsides, but i personally use doubled micropore tape on my holes and it works wonders! Its easy while keeping in RH but allowing plenty delicious fresh air! Just an idea for ya:)

I think most use polyfill because it is easier to control the airflow. If you are not getting enough, pull some out, if you are getting too much (low humidity), plug some more in. Tyvek is kinda one size fits all type of thing. I guess if you have the perfect sized holes with the perfect amount of holes drilled, Tyvek works great, For the rest of the non-perfect world, I think polyfill is a bit more forgiving.

poly fill is used because it allows finer tuning. basicly what I do is try to stuff it as loose as possible while keeping RH in the 90-100% range. so that I am getting the most fae possible.
tyvek simply doesn't breath well enough. cotton balls are organic, and it will get wet giving contams a place to live

Good Points...
I hate dealing with polyfill personally, its just such a pain in the a.. falls in and out, ughhh... used it a couple times tho and i would have to agree that it is the best for FAE... im a mister/fanner myself tho so dosent really matter a whole lot to me personally but for beginners i would suggest the Polyfill also
just buy a cheap pillow from the store

Thanks for the prompt replies everyone. Looks like my friend is going to go with the polyfill over the tyvek for more control.
