Greyish mycellium..

So, I've had several jars of Pink Buffalo in jars for around 1.5 months, like 4 of them are all white, and ready to be spawned, but I have several others that are greyish, not full-on white like it should look, I can't find any contams that look like this, I can't tell if these jars are just taking their sweet time, or what. Has anyone had this problem? I can't post a pic atm

Grey sounds like coweb. Cobweb is rare in PF jars, But can happen. Cobeweb mold is really thin stranded and has a grey/black spore on the end of each strand. This can cause it to look like greyish mycelium.
I hope this is not the case, But as previously posted, We need pictures!

The jar on the left is one of the jars I made this post about, the one to the right is how I expect them to look, and how they normally look by this time..I'm not sure if I'm just not being patient, but a couple jars, upon second glance actually have some..goo at the bottom of the jar, it may be mycell piss, I shook em up to distribute it..
Anyways, I hope the pic helps

Its a weak picture, But they seem fine. Sometimes after a few G2G transfers, or if your working with MS, Sometimes the mycelium will grow a bit thinner and get a little whispy. These are still ok to use for spawning to bulk, But should be avoided when seeking out a master grain jar for your next set of G2G.
Camera tip* You'll never get a good picture of anything if you hold your phone in the air, And take a picture of something. You have to support both your hand, And what your taking a picture of. You will get better pictures. Every picture I have teken, Has been taken with my cell phone, My pics arent bad for a cell phone pic eh?
For those jars, Stand em up on your table, Then stand your phone or camer beside them also on the table, Boom take your pic...

You shouldn't shake up fully colonized jars until your ready to spawn them to the substrate... but I realize you're in a tough spot. What are you using on your lids for GE? Any way to get a whiff of what your grain smells like? A sour or old sock odor means a bacterial infection. Hopefully they'll bounce back for you.
Good Luck!

I just have a hole drilled with polyfil for GE..idk if that's not good or what, but yeah..
Unfortunately, I am anosmic, I have never had the sense of smell, so I am unable to smell my stuff, but I can have a friend smell them for me.

The "grey" could be the shadows of little hills and valleys on the myc surface. When you light it with a lamp and it is clear white everything's fine.

And thank you Purehash for the info
And to the above poster, I'm not sure, I just hate how it's not as white as I want it to be..I'll be patient, though.

Polyfil works fine. Hopefully your buddy will smell a nice mushroomy aroma.

Im sure Its fine, Some of my jars are getting weak like yours, But that just means Ill have to start a new master grain jar. These are probably on their 6th G2G. They are still spawnable, I just wont be using them for G2G anymore.
I can take a picture in a bit to show you what I mean.

Yeah, if you get a chance, I'd like to take a look. Thing about mine is, they aren't G2G, this is from a MS syringe I made myself.

Not at all. Since it was fully colonized when you shook it, the (hopefully) myc should recolonize pretty quick.

It wasn't fully colonized when I shook it, I shook them because they were grey, and I thought by shaking them I'd whip them into shape..somehow..

I mean, they are covered in the grey mycellium, it's just some WBS is sticking out, more than usual, I feel like it needs more time, maybe another 2 weeks..I just don't want my 4 good ones that are ready to spawn to rot out in that time..might have to make a mono outa 4 quarts of good white mycel and 1 of that greyish mycel.

Flash on
 Flash off

A couple jar, Flash off.

These jars are still good to use to spawn to blk, But I will not be using them for G2G, My next set of jars will be inoculated with a master grain jar that will be inoculated with an agar wedge or 5.
I wouldn't worry to much about them, If your working with MS it can be genetics, If you G2G you could be looking at a weak strain from being G2G to many times. (High P value) If working with MS after about 10-15% colonization shake, REALLY WELL. this will disperse colonized grains as much as possible and you will get more even colonization.
Again If working G2G I would start a new master grain jar from either MS or an isolated strain on agar (if you have the ability to) Then work from there, Also when your pour your grains to the receiving jar, After you seal them all shake them as much as possible, This gives you even colonization.
Some cultivators will use WBS for their master grain jars, And Rye for their receiving jars. This way they can more easily visually see how well the spawn has been mixed. This can help alot to the newer cultivator, And gives ease to the experienced cultivator.
