A couple of questions regarding spore prints (newbie here)

Hello everyone. My first post here. Great community.
Although I have a 25year+ history of working with hydroponics, aeroponics and cultivation in general this will be my first time playing with fungi.
I have read everything here I can, and will be following the PF Tek as outlined by RR in every detail. Some things however, I may have missed in my searching, so here it is:
I have ordered two spore prints (both extra dark). I understand that I should be able to make 5-15 syringes, depending on the size of the prints , let's assume the size of a quarter.
Would I be better off using up the entire print by making syringes right away, or make the syringes I need, and then keep the rest of the print for long term storage?
My thinking was that if I was going to compromise the print once by making syringes, I should do it all in one shot to avoid future contamination. Thoughts?
Secondly, would a basement be a bad idea for FC placement, even if they are on shelving, 5 feet off the ground. There is a cat litter box in the basement and I grow other plants under lights nearby. Again, worried about airborne contaminates from plants etc. I grow mostly chili peppers and herbs (seriously)
Thanks in advance for your help.

thtas a good question. I thought about it for a while. IMO the best trick is gonna be to cut them in half with steilized scissors(leave the foil cover on)and immediately put the half you ain't using into a brand-new ziplock bag, then make syringes with the other half reasoning; 1) if you screw it up, but made it all into syringes, it's hard to clean it up on agar. The reason is that the water in the syringe will spread all over a petri dish and contaminate the whole thing, but if you have the print, and you scrape a few dry spores /streak it on the agar, you'll be able to isolate some clean mycelium and save it. Not the case if all you have is syringes A basement would be fine for your fc, there's contaminants in all of the air around you, no matted where you are at(save for a sterile lab) I'm not the leaading expert, this is just me thinking out loud

Ok, that makes sense. They are in fact coming on foil, so after a quick peek in a glove box to gauge the size of the print, cut it and store it.
Perfect, thank you.

you should be able to see the print without opening it. You usually can see the radiating lines through the foil,(look undr a bright light) don't even open it, just look at the outside and judge where to cut

That's even better. Naturally my main concern is cleanliness. I plan on making a very secure, large glove box and doing everything possible inside it. This makes me feel a bit more secure regarding the spores. Thanks
