Ok i need an opinion from people who have tattoos. I am getting a Terrapin Turtle like the one picture below tattooed of my calf. I want it to be about 3 or 4 inches big. What price range do YOU think a simple tattoo such as this would be?

A good job fully colored at about 3 or 4 inches I would say around $120
Most places have a flat rate that's about $100-$120

Yeah about $100-$120 probably. I have a fractal stealie w/ roses on the bottom & Forever Grateful on top on my calf, about 4.25 inches by 3 inches. Ran me $150. Beautiful artwork, though I need to have him go over it again.

Obviously make sure you want it for the rest of your life. I got 2 Chinese symbols on each of my wrist when I was 16. Now I wish I hadn't, I fail.

The terrapin turtle playing a banjo is the same turtle on the cover of Terrapin station, an album of the Grateful Dead.

tattoos shouldnt be irrational decisions. so if you want to get a tattoo, thats fine. but just wait a few months and see if you still want to get the tattoo. you should never get an ' impulse ' tattoo, cos you will end up regretting it.
a tattoo that is small ~3-4inch's will struggle to have any decent detail put into it, and overtime will just turn into a blotch of smudged ink. also another reason not to get a tattoo.
and if you are going to get a tattoo done, you shouldn't be concerned with price. a tattoo is the sort of thing you WANT to pay for. you should seek out an artists who has awards in your city, or that is well known, and get them to ink it for you. at the very least you should ask to see their portfolio and see that their skills are decent.
finally, if you are going to get the tattoo, my advice is not to just bring them an image and say " tattoo this on me ", but to bring a range of reference photos , that you can use to portray your idea/image to the tattoo artist, and have them sketch it all out freshly. any good artist will sketch something up for you. this is good because, not all images transfer will to tattooing. a tattoo artist will know how to draw something good, in a way that suits their style, and they will also know how to draw an image in such a way that it transfers into a good tattoo
i've got two tats and i regret getting them.
>>roflol pay $1200 to be looked at strangely and judged by the general population, for a piece of art work that in 10-15 years will be unrecognizable. that will cost twice as much to remove and be x10 more painful
