Is this bruising due to dryness?
    #15929811 - 03/10/12 03:21 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So you guys helped me figure out that I was keeping my jars too warm, and I moved them to a cooler location for two weeks before birthing them two days ago.  It took a LOT of effort to get them out of the jars, and two of the cakes look quite bruised. Is this due to low humidity?

I did some searches, and trichoderma, which I guess is the usual contamination culprit, is usually much greener in sppearance.  This is my first grow, though, and I'm no mold expert, so I would appreciate your opinion.  What I've got is greyish-greenish-blue and not very pronounced, and it's almost entirely on the mushrooms themselves.  Thanks.

Looks like bruising to me, Trichoderma is external and a really obvious green ime. Bruising could be from rough handling or dryness. But did you roll those cakes in perlite?

Yeah couldnt hurt, you seem to have a lot of aborts. Also do you have holes drilled in your chamber? I dont see any in the background.

Thanks for the help, I rinsed them off.  There are holes drilled, maybe I could have used some more.

My next go will definitely be in-vitro bags instead of jars and a fruiting chamber.  As long as your procedures are clean, there's almost nothing for a a newbie to mess up.

Yea i didnt know either lol. Kind of looks like stripes of stems on that side.

Forgot to mention also man, put those cakes on foil square to keep it off of the perlite. You made a bunch of mistakes along the way, maybe you should check out the Lets Grow Mushrooms videos on brf cakes before you try again.

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

There's a part of every living thing that wants to become itself: the tadpole into the frog, the chrysalis into the butterfly, a damaged human being into a whole one. That is spirituality.
