Couple Noob Questions

Hey everyone, my first post. Thanks for all the info! I'm working on my first cultivation and things have been going smoothly so far. My jars have been colonizing for 4 weeks and just today I noticed pins in a few of the jars. But none of the jars are fully colonized. There are no bare spots of substrate but none of the bottoms are fully colonized. Should I berth them now or let the pins grow in the jars and berth them when I think they are fully colonized?
Second question is kind of a silly one. I will have my SGFC in a large walk in closet with plenty of room for air movement. My only concern is that I have my clothes hanging in the walk in closet. Is there any way that spores or something else could escape the sgfc and get on my clothes? I know, silly question.
Thanks!

are you sure they are pins and not metabolites? give it a couple more days and then you can tell for sure if they are pins...if they are, I would birth them...either way, you got some contam issues...no worries though...they should work out fine...pics would help to identify whats going on

As for your second question your supposed to pick them before the veil opens to prevent spores from being released. If they were to open up and release spores, very small amounts would most likely end up on your clothes when you do a fae. Having trace amounts of spores on your clothes wouldnt really be a problem though...

Here is a pic of one of the jars. As far as the contam thing, I've read mix opinions on this. Some have said that pins in jars is not a bad thing and others have said that it means there is contamination. Is there a consensus?

I could never find a good answer to why this happens, so I asked RR and this is what he said...hope this helps
"Full colonization means full colonization of the available substrate, thus if part of the substrate is contaminated, full colonization is reached when the mushroom mycelium reaches this natural barrier. That's why pins often form when the substrate isn't fully 'white'. RR"

That makes sense. I guess I'll just go ahead and birth and dunk and roll the 2 jars that are pinning and hope for the best. Thanks for the info!
