Positive pressure hepa filtered glove boxes. (looking for links/teks) tried search
    #15925643 - 03/09/12 05:24 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I was looking around for a while and can't really find much in the way of what I'm looking for.

I'm trying to find pics/links/teks for glove boxes which have positive pressure ventilation via attached hepa filter.

5 shroom rating to those who can help me out or point me in the right direction!

Sort of like a combination flowhood/glovebox? I can't point you in the right direction but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure, that sounds really cool.

I would just stick with a SAB I ditched my old positive pressure air box.
they add more variables and require disassembly and extra cleaning as opposed to a spray down wipe down bomb.

I never had any issues with it but the idea if air being moved around kind of defeats the purpose.

Yea that's about the gist of what I'm getting at. I a professionally built medical grade device like this that they called a "sterile glove hood" for sale on my local craigslist but it was 6 grand. I'm hoping to be able to create a device like this for a few grand less and was hoping people on here may have some advice in this department.

I don't mind cleaning it frequently. I'd try to build it for easy assembly/disassembly/cleaning. I don't see why moving sterile air through a glove box should be any more of a problem than a laminar flowhood.

I'd really like to see what parts people have used to build one of these

the air wont be sterile a SAB is a (stale air box) very simple and effective.
even if you could get flow Hood quality air inside the box will still have contams present.

this is mad simple but so far highly effective.

Build a still air box.  Most people who have built positive pressure ones don't use them for long.  The main reason being the turbulence created in the glove box causes more skin cells and other contaminants from the operator's hands to be blown into the sterile work.

A laminar flow hood is best, and a still air box second best, but harder to work with.

Well dang there goes that idea.

Here's my current build

I guess I was thinking that building a mini flow hood type of thing and using it for positive air flow would flush any contaminates out. I use sub-micron sleeves that stay on my arms along with the attached tyvek sleeves, which was why I figured bacteria clinging to rogue skin cells might not be so much of an issue.

I really wanna just get a damn flow hood lol
